tx996cab is infamous around these parts
When I got my system installed in February, I got lucky with one of Rick's crew already traveling down through the central states. He was able to squeeze me in to the already booked install sessions. One of his techs came to San Antonio from Austin for a day and did mine. At the time there was a 9 month wait for his shop in California. Best thing to do is call him and see if he or his crews have any road trips planned already so you can share expenses.

You may want to check into the HPAS system that was a Tequipment upgrade for non-bose cars. That system had door enclosures for a 6.5. Actually, the system had 2 6.5's in the doors. The enclosures are manufactured by Jehnert and can be bought with or without speakers.

Jehnert is sold through Cascade Audio in Washington. Stock they come in black but leather colors can be matched to any Porsche interior as they are a Tequipment option.

Jehnert's loaded system (with speakers) is a little pricey but it comes with crossovers tuned for the 996 along with replacement dash tweeters & mids. They also make a nice rear enclosure for 8" subs which do not require losing any rear footspace or use of the back seats.

They weren't very forthcoming about the speaker manufacturer but they did tell me that the speaker manufacturer produced speakers for Diamond Audio. When the Tequipment option was first released they used Bose drivers but now have upgraded the speakers.

I'm planning on using the unloaded Jehnert enclosures cause they look so mint and adding my Morels to them. There's really no need for the tweeter mid enclosure they sell since many tweets & mids can be installed into the factory spaces.

Also check out Monney Audio in San Francisco. They make a midbass 8" enclosure that goes in the passenger footwell like the Bose solution Porshe used but its located on the door side of the footwell. I think this is a much less obtrusive design space wise. I'm going to try to add some pics but there are pictures of it on the Monney website.
