My manager has a 96 993C2 black/black that he is interested in selling to my brother. The car is in great mechanical condition and the paint is excellent. It has about 88K on it.

He is looking for about $33K for it. I had an 01 C2 that I recently sold for $42,750 in San Francisco. My brother is in South Carolina.

Any advice would be much appreciated... I know little about the 993.

My advice is as follows:
Option 1:
Convince him to buy a 996 for a little more money. The future for the best mods will be for the water cooled engines.

Option 2:
a. Go to www.porsche.com,
b. click on pre-owned vehicles
c. do a search on 1996 993 with similar options to do a price comparison.
I did this and found a red 993 with just 59,000 miles for the same money from a Porsche dealer(who will stand behind the car.

If you brother still wants to buy your bosses car offer him 10% less than he is asking and take it to a Porsche dealership to be evaluated.

Sounds like a great deal. BTW, you can get into 996's for less $ than that. 993's hold their vaule way better than 996's. How many miles are on it.

Based on what I've seen the last 6-8 months, price is OK to 5G's high for a coupe with those miles - depending on condition and options. Or about right for Cab.

Sounds like you could sour things with your boss over this car... Not worth it considering how many Porsches are out there that your brother could buy.
