XM satellite radio

Where can I find instructions on how to install a Roady unit from XM? My wife purchased it for me for Christmas and I'd like to do the install myself. The problem is that I have a passport radar detector that utilizes the 12v lighter. So my options are to hardwire the detector or the radio. Also, any suggestions on how to route the wire for the satellite radio?

Thanks.

JD

Nothing????

Can someone answer a question about the Bose system? Does it have AUX inputs that can be used or are they being utilized by the CD changer?

Thanks,

I believe that 2003 cars do not have an aux capability, my CDR23 does not (confirmed with Becker). I did have the Aux installed in my 2002 Boxster though, and did connect an XM as well as my MP3.
You can instal an XM Radio using an FM modulator which works pretty well (using this now for my MP3 in the Pcar). I have the XM set up in my BMW using the modulator.
You can check with Becker at 888-423-3537 ext 1209. Just ask for Burl and give him the model number of your radio.

Mike - can you give us more info/links/pics on how you installed an AUX input in your boxster? I am currently running my ipod using the itrip FM transmitter but the sound quality is not that great and I would reslly love to hardwire it.
Thanx
Nova - I would try and post this and other tech questions on renntech.org...

Modulator information link below. There is a plug assembly behind the console used for a cell phone connection. The green/yellow (I believe) is the hot wire which is switched, plenty of ground options there. I added an on/off switch for the modulator power. You can get to the plug assy by removing a small panel just above the gas pedal.

Sorry, I misread your question. Here is the link to the Becker connector.

Nova87,
Looks like you have an '02 so you should be able to tap into your Becker, call them, you'll need the Aux wiring kit, and then you'll need to tap a power souce.
Call Becker - (201)327-3434 x 1209, (888) 423-3537 x 1209
The kit is part number 1319.116-276
$16.40 plus $8 shipping.

msindi,
If you have an 03, then you have MOST, which is a fiber optic mini LAN in your car. Your SOL, only other fiber optic components can be attached. FM modulator is the only way to go

Thank you all. I will call Becker directly to see how it can be done.

Now if I could only figure out where to put the antenna. A buddy of mine put the antenna on his dash and said he received decent reception so I tried it out on my pathfinder and reception was spotty at best. I have a mini antenna so I don't think it will look that bad on the roof, its just getting that jack and the wire into the engine compartment or under the rear window......

Again, thanks for the help. I'll post what I find out.
