Angry Got a ticket for NO front plate today.

I parked in a meter near Downtown LA for less than 10 minutes. Amount is $25. Violation is VC5200. The current city budget shortfall requires it take this action now.

I think most cars look better without the front plate. What do you think?

Do you have you front plate on?

Be sure to pay the fine before that 21 day deadline or the penalty jumps up twofolds. I head out to Little Tokyo Town in downtown maybe twice a week for dinner and everytime I meter park on the street I get cited. Last month I got cited twice in one week and I was parked in the same spot. The parking enforcement people need to chill out and pull that damn plug out of their @sses because they are way too uptight.

It is requyired by law in MA and you can actually get pulled over for not having one!!
I do not have one on my car cause it ruins the look...Besides, the Techart type II has no holes for it and I aint making any in mine once I get it...

I too dislike the look of front plates on cars. I have never attached them on any of my cars...that along with tinted windows make it risky to park on the streets of Chicago without multiple tickets. After passed experiences with the boot I have learned my lesson....I now only park in garages!

I got pulled over a few years ago by a motorcycle cop. He said I ran the light. I told him that the light was still yellow when I crossed the white line. He grunted, then walked around my car, and said he would let me go on running the light, but was going to ticket me for no front plate (it was the end of the month and I guess he had to do something to make his quota). I went home & put the plate on, went to a police station to have them confirm the violation was remedied & sign the ticket, got home & took the plate off, and mailed in the $25 fine.

Seemed silly--in the SF bay area, I'd guess that 25% of the cars don't have front license plates.

I think you should be happy its only $25 and laugh it off, the last time I got one in NY was with my BMW and it was $55 and I had gotten 3 in one month, no Porsches with front plates here.

Ive been cited for the same thing, and had the ticket "signed off" by a local cop. It should be the same way in SoCal. U might wanna try displaying the front plate behind the windshield inside your car on the dash. You could plead that someone/something happened to the mounting brackets. Just make sure to take it OFF your dash when you drive away or it could be PAINFUL upon acceleration!

And YES....they look alot better without the plates in front

I will pay and be done with it. I am not parking on the street again. I will keep driving without a front plate on my pcar until I get pull over. Only then I might consider putting a plate on.

I dont' have one on my truck, I've never gotten ticket for it though. With my lift, tires, and exhaust on my truck I constantly get pulled over. I get pulle over for no mud flaps, to much disyance between bumer and ground, noise disturbance, and once for speeding. The cop claimed I was going 70 MPH....... my truck can't go this fast unless i'm about 300 RPM into my redline.

Cops can be a pain when they are trying to make ends meet.

You know whats worse than getting one downtown in a meter!?!? In front of your own house!! Thats right this cop gave me a ticket in front of my house at 3am in the morning. The funny thing is that there is a MB S500 down the street without a front plate that night and he didnt get one.

To their credit, the local police, highway patrol, sheriffs, and troopers do have a tough job and they're only upholding the law be it a little silly for such infractions. My wife's got stopped for no front license plate.... ONLY! I thought this was a waste of time, even said so to the officer. By the look on the officer's face, I would believe he thought so too. But it's revenue for the city.

Don't anyone tell me this is safety related. Running a light, speeding, etc. etc. I can understand.

You should ALL feel lucky. My wife just paid her 'No Front License Plate" ticket this Monday in Dallas. It was $189.00

Add to that the $213.00 speeding ticket and my butt still hurts. She now also has a V1.

Can you put those nice looking German custom tags with your tag numbers on the front of your car? Or, does your state only allow original state tags only?
