996 carrera 2- post cat straight pipes?

i have a carrera 2 from 1999 and i am thinking about deleting the exhausts and doing post-cat straight pipes.
any real gains? is the sound excessive?

I would guess marginal gains (10hp) and loud is in the ear of the beholder. For me, straight pipes are way too loud - much louder than any Harley I've heard.

You will definately LOSE power in the bottom end and the sound? It might sound nice if you are a teenager, but loses it's attractiveness as you grow older or as you start accumulating tickets.

You will lose bottom end torque but gain top end power. This will be EXTREMELY loud. I did just catpipes with fabspeed mufflers and they were loud for me!

Loud, loud, loud, and loud at all RPMs. As the others have said, you'll lose low end TQ and gain a few HP at the top end.
