The hood doesn't close itself, if it did so, one wouldn't have to use subtle pressure to get it to lock. I am a little remiss in seeing that the area around the emblem is the strongest part of the hood. I've seen plenty of hoods with a dent because pressure was used against the emblem to close it. The least I would worry about is losing the emblem... it's the dent that is the biggest issue. It's up to you...seems you've had some good luck on your side since you have used this procedure for 30 years...

One of our local Boxster owners, June, does it by sitting on the front trunk lid. She does it so fast it is over and done before I can turn on my camera.

This is another crest where I soldered the mounting stud back on. I'm getting good with experience I think.

When a mounting stud breaks off from the back of the crest this is what you see. Getting good at removing it without scratching the paint so I can solder it back on.

Is Ralph looking for a helper?

ESK, Sorry man but survey says and majority rules, you close your hood the wrong way for a Porsche, all those Porsches, man you should know this.

Just my 0.02, I close my hood/trunk with my palms located on very edge of the hood/trunk (very close to the headlights). On my 1st Porsche, I was taught this by the owner. I got a full lecture when I shut the hood/trunk via depressing the badge. I didn't think he was going to sell the car to me afterwards. Luckily, he forgave me.
