also, they said there may be extra labor to get at the transmission due to the supercharger install (intercooler lines, etc). is that accurate? i'm not a mechanic but i can't see how it would interfere with the transmission R&R.
also, 1999, i understand your points about the oil weight. i'm just apprehensive with the excessive temps down here in FL most of the year. i would hate to use something thicker as a band aid for the leak, at the possible expense of more engine wear in the extreme heat in FL. then again, i don't know jack about oil and engine wear and my fears may be completely unfounded.

I dropped the car off last Saturday. I took it to my local dealer instead of the Evo Dealer (Suncoast Porsche) because they said they weren't going to even mention the SC to the PCNA rep.
Well, I heard back from them today, and yes, they mentioned it to the rep. The rep said that if the seal area is out of spec, they aren't going to help with any other repairs, due to the fact that the supercharger is probably to blame. Whatever....
I can't ***** since I'm out of warranty, but that's pretty weak. The seal area measurements are going out of whack on tons of cars that haven't even been modded. Any excuse on their part I suppose. They are still going to hold up their end of the bargain with splitting the cost for the rms repair though, but they said they will not entertain any discussion about anything else if they discover more problems due to the SC install. So much for them not mentioning the blower...
They also said it was going to take them four hours to R&R the intercooler hoses around the tranny. They aren't going to charge extra at this point due to their original quote, but they mentioned they under estimated the labor on it. Four hours sounds like a lot when the whole install is rated at like 10 hours ish...
1999: The temps here range from 40 to about 100. The median temp is about 80 most of the year. Cool temps are pretty rare, but they come up from time to time. Based on that, what viscosity would you recommend they put in there? Porsche and the dealer are obviously recommending Mobil Water, but I see your points. I did not try the oil change first due to the fact that I was concerned about the intermediate shaft and my clutch probably needed to be inspected anyway (too many drag races with Luis )
I talked to the dealer today and they will put whatever I want in there when they put the car back together so I need some quick advice.
Thanks.

turns out it was not the RMS. it was the intermediate shaft seal. they said the RMS was bone dry so they didn't touch it. it will be interesting to see if PCNA will still honor their deal of paying half since it was not the RMS after all. fingers crosssed...
i really like the people at my dealership, but they can be so frustating at times. i asked them to inspect the clutch and call me. figured it was a good time to replace it if it showed any wear.
i also asked for them to put a heavier oil in there.
well, wouldn't you know. i went by to check on the car and they had it all buttoned up and were getting ready to flush the intercooler lines. they poured in more 0-40 and said the clutch was half way done. uggghh. i would have so replaced the clutch with that much wear. i was really annoyed that they didn't call. the service writer was annoyed as well as he highlighted it on the slip. it's hard to get mad at them since they're so nice down there though. hopefully if the clutch goes in the near future they'll remember and help me out some.

most of the time I dont bother waiting for "the call", I just call them like every 2 hours and annoy them. I find the service industry sucking big time lately...
Yeah that sucks, now you know that the clutch is all down hill from there, at least the rms issue is behind you now...

I replaced my IMS when i did the RMS...
The IMS was actually way worse than the RMS.
The rate should only be 1hour more than a clutch replacement(~5hrs total).
As for the SC causing more labor, I would not see this anymore than an hour. I cant believe the SC would be designed in a way to make it more difficult to replace a clutch.
I hope everything works out allright for you...Let me know if you have any questions since i have done this repairs/updates personally...
