How many have gotten RMS repair by Porsche when out of warranty?

If so, could you tell me when the repair took place (approximately), the mileage (about), and if you were the original owner, and lastly what they did for you (Pay for it all, a percentage, nothing, etc..)?

Thank you.

I'm in this situation right and I'm still waiting to hear from PCNA. I'm curious to see how most you have been dealt with since so many of us are out of warranty now and these problems keep coming back. My RMS was just replaced less than 5K miles ago under warranty so I'm hoping they'll do the right thing and fix it for me on their dime since this is such a serious design flaw.

I would think that the dealer that did the warranty work 5k ago would step up to the plate and fix it for you.

As a newby porsche owner I am interested also - my 1999 C2 with 22k miles, no leakage yet, has not had it done and it is out of warranty too...does Porsche go the extra yard or not based on some of you seasoned Porsche veterans?

Just had a new clutch installed and had them do the RMS while they were in there. The dealer only charged me $300 over a eurpean repair shops price for just the clutch job and I have a 2 year unlimited mileage warranty from them.

Mine is a 99 with 24680 miles. Now ask me if I pissed the clutch went? I'm the second owner so no idea how the car was driven by original owner.

dog u know my story. I'm the second owner. first 2 leaks at 22k and 24k miles, both covered under warranty. 3rd leak at 26k mile and i was out of warranty and PCNA had it covered (Thanks to Brian at Carlsen porsche). My car has ~30k miles now and hopefully the "newly designed" RMS is holding up. If it leaks again then i'll probably fight for a new engine.

Rusnak Porsche in Pasadena, CA has told me that they will warranty an RMS replacement for two years after installation. I ended up having mine replaced along with the clutch at an independent shop, who matched this 2 year warranty.

well, service dept. talked to the rep. the rep talked to PCNA. since i am not the original owner (even though I owned the car while it was under warranty for several years), they will only cover half of the cost. the rep told the service dept that PCNA is not obligated to do anything if you are not the original owner. half is better than nothing considering they're not obligated to do squat. they estimate my half to be about $850, give or take. kind of a bummer that i had it done under warranty probably less than 5K miles ago and it failed already. i've only got around 23K on the car total.

does anyone know how many hours porsche recommends for the rms repair? when i looked on my receipt from the last time, it only appears to be about 6-6.5 hours plus parts.

I think that you are getting ripped off. I remember reading a while ago that the total repair should be between $800-$1,000. Check over at Renntech.org. Loren should be able to answer your question.
