So Messed up the polished lip on one of my rims today...
I was switching to winter wheels, and tried to carry my torque wrench from the driveway up while I was rolling my front wheel up the driveway and the wrench started to slip and reaction was to drop the wheel and grab the wrench. Well my wheel landed on an edge and it took two small chunks out of the rim's lip.
So here's my options... What do you guys think...
#1 find a place that can weld onto the lip and polish it down so as a repair.
#2 have the lip repaired at a regular wheel repair place but since it's on a polished lip and not a painted rim, have all the rims painted black this way I have cheaply repairable wheels like my carrera light weights were.
#3 buy a new rim and ebay the old one. Someone might want a single nicked wheel cheap right?

Well here's what you have:
You have the factory two piece design wheels which has a machined lip (diamond-cut). This can only be done corretly with the correct machine, no you can't replicate this on your own.....
I would say if you're thinking about doing something custom to those wheels now is the time since the winter is here and the down-time is nothing to gripe about.
I might have one of these sitting around here, I need to check. If you choose to just replace it let me know and I'll take a look around the shop for you.

Thanks... So I shouldn't be too confident about the getting it fixed...
What do you guys think about painting them all black (except the bolts) and having the lip repaired by a rim repair place (not welded, but filled like they do regular rims), this way it doesn't matter if I do it again, or do you think it will be weird looking and they can't do it right. I have about 4-5 months to get all this done since they are on my summer wheels.

how bad are the missing chunks? can the lip just be polished without adding fillers or welded? i'd seek advice from a reputable wheel repair shop or post a close up before proceeding.
i don't think those rims look good painted personally.

Check out this franchise http://www.mobilewheelrepair.com/. They fixed one of my wheels and it came out perfect. I was very impressed with the work and it costed $150.
