sick of my o1 audi s4 want to upgrade to a p car..What to buy?
I have had the itch to buy a used 996 for some time. I own a high performance shop so mods and maintance is no problem....But i prefer not to get hit over the head with the price the car. Also what is the best year and model and engine and body package to start modding? I would immediatelty put iforged wheels h&r c/o's b&m ss and giac software upgrade. TIA -Rob

The price you will pay depends on the options, mileage, condition of the car, where and when you buy it, as well as the model year and whether it's a coupe or convertible. Check out the autotrader, cars.com and KBB to get an idea. Then you must decide what options are important to you as well as what color you like. If the car has mods, do they increase the value to you or decrease it. There are many questions and no solid answers as to how much you'll pay.

I went threw this in March. Traded in my '00 Audi S4 for an '02 C4S. Post pics when you decide on your new car.

Yes....the numbers vary DRASTICALLY....much more than any other car. The reason is OPTIONS.....yes Porsche's are all ORDERED...no standard packages...even the ones on the showroom floors were specially ordered with certain options by the dealership. So the sticker price of a new 996 could have varied from 65k for a C2 coupe to 105k for a C4 cab. So when looking at these cars for sale, you need to know the exact option list so you can gauge the value. So a stripped car may be 30k, but a well optioned car may be closer to 40k....also you can get a stripped 02 for what a fully optioned 99 goes for...so do some research, go to a local Porsche dealer, ask TONS of questions, and drive LOTS of cars...then you will know what options are important to you and which ones are not. Things like full leather and heated seats are hard if not impossible to add after the fact...most everything else can be done for a price.
