Porsche NAVI Question

I have a question....I am about to buy a Pioneer D2 double din navi unit. Yes i knoe it is the old one, but I like this one and it is practical for my use. I have a question: How hard is the install on it? I heard there are no harness or plug and play equipment for a 2001 Porsche Car. 911 and you need to make a custom one. Does anyone has expirience with this type of install? Any for see able promlem with the brain or Porsche electrical system?

Best Buy Employee Discount price : 950 plus tax
Ebay: about 850 shipped brand new.
11th and Central in LA: 500-650 reconditioned, 750-1000 brand new
Ipod adapter 42.00 ebay or wholesale

INSTALL: Stereo shop, but are they trust worthy to work on a PORSCHE?!

Does anyone have any advice or help.....

I don't know where you live but I am sure there are some good shops that work on P-cars in your area.. as far as a plug goes there is one.. similar to the VW harness

you have to make your own brackets, and if you don't have a double DIN in there now there are some parts you will want to get from Sunset Porsche in Portland OR so you don't cut up your dash. Also you will have to make a custom trim ring to go around the stereo

I did the install in my car, you dont need parts at all for the double din install....the single DIN slot just needs to be cut. Simple. The only thing you may need is the bezel trim for the AC controls to fit below. This is a $8 part from the dealer.

I had Speakerworks in Anaheim work on several of my cars. I have always been happy with them.
Off topic, Buya02 what kind of rims are on your car?

Rims

Miro ALT A 349's I think? I forgot what model they are... I got brand new pirellis and the miros for $2300.00. I couldnt justify spending spending 5 k or rims on a car I may not keep more than a year or two...i did my shopping and am happy with these rims. I would post more pics but the stupid uploader never works!

***if someone gives me their email I can send you some pics of the rims to post on here...

Speakerworks! Talk about a blast from the past! If I remember correctly, Eric Holdaways or Hollaway is the guy right? They built some sound-off legends! I had some work done by them when I was in high school.

BTW, you should also check out Reus Audio in Orange. Great system for the 996!

progress made...

Ok so I called Speaker works and it was about 2:00 PM the guy who answered was alittle wierd, but he said "couple hundred for install, and why dont you come right now?" So I said OK I will be there in 20 min, he said "hold on, its a good 3 hour install and it is not worth $200 for me to stay 30 minutes late...." I couldnt believe him!!! Anyways I went to Best Buy and I guess there are a few issues....first there is a amp stock in my car. Either I need a module or harness to keep running the stock amp or else they have to hard wire my new unit directly to the speakers which will lessen sound quality and make install even harder. Also they have to make like a custom bracket to make my car into a double din which is pretty easy...

QUESTION does anyone know whether a 2001 porsche carrera 996/911 NON Turbo Narrow Body comes stock with the Haymen Karden system or the BOSE??? I guess that makes a huge difference for the harness module...

This is becoming a huge headache, nothing is ever easy with Porsches!!! thanks for the help.
