Battery dead, can I open the trunk ???

If your car is locked, open it with the key to gain entry. Next, remove the cover of the fuse box. Next, find the terminal in the fuse box that has a pic of a car with the hood open (mine is colored red) and pull on it. Lastly, connect a positive jumper cable to it and connect the negative jumper to the the door latch striker. Unlock the hood by using the open hood switch. Hope this helps.

Per the manual
1. Open the door with the key and leave the key in the doorlock.
2. Remove plastic fuse box cover
3. Pull out positive terminal (A) in the fuse box
4. Use a jumper cable to connect the positive terminal of the donor battery with the positive terminal (A) in the fuse box.
5. Use the second jumper cable to connect the negative terminal of the donor battery with the door latch striker.
If the car was locked the alarm will go off when the negative cable is connected so you have to lock and unlock the door with the key to shut the alarm off.
Basically, there is a picture of a car with it's hood up on one of the fuses and that is where you connect the positive end of the jumper cable.
The manual says the car can't be started this way. Hope this helps
Edit: Sorry 996 I think you beat me to the punch on this by a few minutess.

I have what seems to be a flat battery on my 996 C2. I've connected a booster to the the door pin and the + terminal in the footwell and sure enough the alarm goes off but the method in the handbook to switch it off doesn't work (turn door lock on and off) and I still can't pop the hood to get to the battery.
Any advice greatly appreciated.
