Spare Tire

I've been curious for awhile. It seems like a great weight saving trick would be to remove the spare tire from the front of our cars. Does anyone do this? I've heard claims of the tire being part of the collision safety system, but i think thats a load...

for those of you that remove the tire. What do you do if you get a flat.

Is it true that the 997's dont have a spare??

I have had a flat that that stuff would not fix....I also drive 50 miles each way...so why chance a 50 mile tow if I dont need to....Like it says, that will only work if its a puncture in the tread. If its on the sidewall you are screwed...

When I had a car that came with one, I would take it out for track days otherwise it was in the car.

I carry FIX-A-FLAT and keep my spare in there. I also use my car as a DD and need the extra security of the spare. Plus I have AAA for anything else. I figure with the tire out..would it make that much of a difference? Plus I have a cab...it is already heavy....
