Video: Carrera C4S Drifting/Power Sliding
Here's a video I shot of a friend playing around track side.

yeah maybe the "experts" can explain that...if it is indeed a 4 wheel drive there is no way it can slide like that right? Maybe I need another lesson in basic physics. But if power is going to all 4 wheels...the car shouldnt be "sliding" anywhere right?
either way...cool vid. I would love to get some video of my doing some burnouts and slip sliding around.

the front is normally getting only 5% power....when the wheels spin, then it gets up to 40% MAX....turn the PSM off and you can slide it around....he probably will need a clutch and some tires if he does that too much, but its doable in a C4/C4S/TT...

its the only 4 wheel drive system that can drift... it was designed to drive like the c2. (Unlike the 997) I think its electronically actuating the 4 wheel linkage while the 993/996 is a viscouse mechanical coupling (so it needs slippage in order to work and link the rear/fronts together). Also what is happening there is that the front brakes has a monster bite on the front discs and rears are only @20% of the cars stopping power... so the only way it release the energy is the weakest grip and thats the rear wheel.
PSM will be activated as soon as you step on the brake (which he is doing) so its actually trying to brake the car (PSM lights are probably going nuts ) but it cant since the wheels momentum is driven by the throttle and overcomes the rear brakes. So he actually has his foot on the brakes and gas at the same time (takes practice), if you give it enough gas it will break free from the brakes and the inertia of the wheel will overpower the brakes. Wipping the car around also helps break traction. PSM probably doesnt detect high speed so it probably doesnt think the car is in trouble (another scenario), so it lets him has his fun.
He is also "Efin" up his tranny, clutch, tires, brakes, 4 wheel couplings and other things Im sure...but...I guess it fun.
The c4 system is pretty impressive, Walter Rhoule (sp) prefers the c4 over the c2... more and more people (professional, car experts) are starting to realize the c4 might be the better choice.. this technology did come from 959, that should speak for itself.

just watched the video again, your right... at some spots of the video, it actually looked like he was standing still (braking) while rears are spinning, but the car was still actually coming around... then it is just throttle alone and no brakes...

You can def tell its still AWD, the way his rear flips around he isnt sitting in that one spot just roasting the tires and can actually still accelerate into a figure 8 or another little drift, very possible!
With some stiff sway bars its even easier to get oversteer and control it
