The TT definitely had the least visits at the shop. And that was the car I had for the longest time (so far).

Yea... it's a little odd. But I always liked the looks of the 996 C4S... and the actual progression is: 996 C2, then 996 TT and now AMG SL 55 + 996 C4S (which then makes sense again).

I have the PSE exhaust on the C4S and damn... that car is just so much fun... The SL is a great daily commuter, but the C4S with PSE is sheer fun to ride. I often switch off the music to listen to the PSE.

Smile

I'm with you on the C4S and PSE (the car is just so complete). Having a tough time trying to convince the missus to sell both bmws (3 and 5 series) and start over. Ideal stablemates would be an M5 and a C4S. ;-)

C2 = middle management
TT = upper management
SL55 + C4S = VP

In the states, the factory warranty can be extended but only to a point. It would be great if you could keep extending the factory warranty, though you're making a bet that the car will fail and you lose if it doesn't. Aftermarket warranties are generally even worse because most of them aren't worth the paper they are written on and will try to deny claims whenever possible. Couple that with a very high initial cost, deductibles, 'excluded' components, pre-approval requirements, and shaky financial standing and you're better off betting on a horse race.

It actually adds a lot of values to you car, when you have the original extended warranty, because once someone does not extend (or forgets to extend) it, the next owner cannot continue it. The cars also need to be fully serviced at Porsche. Thus to extend the warranty somewhat shows that you truly care for your P-car. It only costs 800,- Euro per year (no matter what P-car you have) and it really covers pretty much everything that could potentially break. You can keep it up until your car gets 10 years old (or has 200,000 km on the clock).

And yea... aftermarket warranties are crap. Same here...

What is the 'standard' warrant over there for the original purchaser? For some reason I was thinking that they were only one year and 12k miles. If so, for the next ten years of coverage you're looking at, with current exchange rates, about an additional ten thousand dollars, assuming you don't hit the mileage limit in the interim. While great for piece of mind, I'm still not totally sold on the concept.
