C4S vs e46 M3
I am looking for a solid, fun and somewhat practical car to use for trips and city jaunts but also to enjoy on the way through our coastal two lane roads. I have driven both but not much c4s seat time.
Anyone familiar with both and could offer their opinions on how the c4 would suite my needs. I like the m3 spaciousness and would get a dinan s2 car or similarly modded car. Anyone know of any nicely modded c4s's in the N. calif area? Or nice stock ones?
thanks for any helpful feedback.

I will keep this short and sweet. I love the M3 and this has been beatened to death and Im sure this will turn into a 20 page debate in the next couple days and there will be more TROLLS in here than FRAGGLE ROCK. A C4S is the best looking 996 and is HANDS DOWN 100% better than a E46 M3 not even close

duh
...c4s over m3 all day long...but i would personally take any facelift 996 over a m3 pretty sure both forums are filled with biases in both cases (m3forum and 6speed) but...THIS...IS...6SPEED!!!

You mention that you want a "somewhat practical" car. The M3 is obviously a more practical car. I had an SMG M3 and my C4S is a manual. For traffic, I'd take the M3, but for fun, I'd take the C4S. It's really what your priorities are. I find the porsche much less practical. Fitting adults in the back is a joke and the trunk is only good for smaller items. I've shoved all sorts of things in the M with the seats folded down.
I recently moved from a e46 M3 to an 02 C4S. I love both cars, but the C4S is a better drive. The M3 is fantastic. It's a blast to drive, and the 8200 redline is nice. You really have to rev to keep it in it's powerband. Some may disagree, but the VANOS almost feels like a turbo to me.
The C4S has so much grip. It corners better than the M (both of my cars are had aftermarket suspensions) and the sound from the PSE is addictive. The C4S is definitely more flashy...M3 is a sleeper, only young guys seem to care that you drive one.
I made the switch b/c I didn't want the same car (M was totalled) and I'm loving the porsche...but I do miss the M! Looking at your garage, I'd say wait for the E92 M. You've got ridiculous rides already and the C4S isn't gonna touch those. I'm sure you can entertain yourself with those ferrari's until the e92's make it to the showroom.

I'd pick the C4S and this is coming from an E46 M3 owner with some choice mods.
But the tough part is, for $10Gs more, you can get yourself into a nice Turbo, but the Turbo don't look as good as the C4S, but kix its **** in every performance dept.

This one's easy. If you like to drift, get the M3. If you want to corner like you're on rails, get the C4S. My C4S was my DD for 4 years, and the only problem was that I couldn't fit two kids in the back.
I have an E60 M5 now, and with the exception of the power (it would eat the C4S for breakfast in a straight line) and the ease with which I can kick out the tail in the M5, the C4S still feels much more special.

ill chime in here..........
i have had a m3 for 2.5yrs and just recently bought a C4S and of course, each has its pluses and minues...
as a DD, the M3 is handsdown the better car. you can fit 4 people, you can throw a bunch of crap in the trunk (with a system also!), parts are easier to attain for it and are ALSO cheaper. aftermarket or factory......
BUT, the 911 is a PURE drivers car, simply nice stock, better modified, kinda simple the "ultimate" driving machine .
as of now, ill pick the C4S (pics coming soon!!)
but as for the comment of interior, HANDS DOWN THE M3. cant wait for my 997!!
