So instead of just helping me you had to give a dick answer which still leaves this thread open ended

So this quote from above is not percise enough for you. How can anyone be left with any questions as to which 996's have egas or which ones do not?

"1999 C2 was the only 996 without e-gas....all other cars are e-gas".

You are forgiven if you are a lawyer in which case the reponse should havre been written in a way that you can understand, such as:

"No 996, having a cable controlled throttle shall be of any model year that is not 1999 and furthermore, such car shall not be of any model other than the non C4 version of said 996."

newport, since you got the 02 facelift, does that mean you have egas as well or is it just the 99 c2, oh yeah.. yours is a 99, wait...no you have a c4.... newport, stop confusing everyone!

No as I said before I was confused on whether he meant all other models (C4, Cabrio) from THAT YEAR were e-gas then they went full cable, or if he meant all other models from 99 and up which he did.........

OMG dude, your killing us. Cable actuated throttles came first then the engineers invented the electronic throttle (aka e-gas).

So, in 1999 in North America (and 1998 everywhere else) the 996 C2 cars (coupe or cab) had a cable throttle. The C4 cars (coupes or cabs) had e-gas. From that year forward all 996's everywhere went to e-gas

We good now?

OMG reading this thread was painful-

Let's make this like Jeopardy, where you have to present the answer in the form of a question... Maybe that will make things CLEARER?? LOL

Host: "Contestant1, you won the previous round. Please choose a category."

Contestant 1: "I'll take European Cars for $200"

Host: "First category item for European Cars.... The answer is "A 1999 996 Carrera 2".

Contestant 1: "What is the only year and model of 996 sold in the USA that Porsche made non e-gas???"

BLING BLING BLING BLING BLING BLING BLING BLING!!!!

Host: You are correct!!!

damnit people I have understood what he meant about 5 posts ago now. we can let it go. It makes more sense to go from cable to e-gas but some believe real performance and control will be through cable.

LET IT GO I UNDERSTAND WHICH ARE E-GAS AND WHICH WAS THE ONLY CABLE 996
