ANOTHER TRIGGER PULLER on a 2002 C4S

well id like to start off by letting you all know, i have learned more about porsches on this board in 2 days than i had with the other boards for the last month or so. I have been in the market for a 996 4s for about a month now. I played with the thought of leasing an 997, but that is just entirely too much money for a guy who carries a gun and wears a blue uniform for a living if you know what i mean.

This afternoon i met a private seller for an 2002 c4s, artic silver/blk leather, 6 spd, psm, power leather seats, and my favorite the porsche sport exhaust option, xenons, dimming rear view mirror,10 spkr bose system, and has 24000 miles. The body and paint are in excellent condition. there is no remaining warranty. Asking price is $55,900 obo, but the seller stated the lowest he would accept is $54,000.00. I am a newbie and have seen these advertised from 49-58, with various mileage and conditions. KBB for an excellent vehicle is $53,500 or so. What do you guys think, right after seeing this vehicle i got a call from a guy at downtown motors in los angeles, who advised me he had just received an 2004 with 27000miles, artic silver/blk lther, tiptronic, certified, asking dealer price is $67,900. I am growing impatient, but i keep reminding myself good things come to those who wait. I want my porsche now. Anyhelp guys. Thank you in advance.

I bought an '02 C4S in November '06 for $51,000. I purchased from a dealer as a certified pre-owned with 2 year warranty. 32 k, black basalt, and all the features on the car you are looking at. A great Porsche and clean as a whistle. As a newbie, I really like the warranty. Bought in Northern VA area. While it may not be a bargain, it seems like an OK price given its condition. Good luck!

based on the responses it doesnt appear to be that great of a deal....but fair enough i guess, my only concern is BB value is 52,800, and i would be paying above that value....

How common is the sport exhaust is it easily found?

If you get it for $52K then it's a steal, $53500 is fair.

The hardest part of the deal is walking away from a car you really want. I don't think the seller would be insulted if you offered KBB. If he accepts good for you. If he declines than you can make the call as to how much you want it at that point. Its a fair price for a good car. Finding a great car at a great price is sometimes more work than its worth. Best of luck.

How does a guy in blue uniform even afford a late model 4S?

some of you would be suprized at how much a police officer in los angeles can make??? any guesses, a few upwards of 180k a year, not much of a life if you ask me, as for myself...at around 100k, with minimal overtime ive got a ton of hobbies that keep me busy..But my department isnt even at the top of the pay scale for california, furthermore many like myself have made real estate investments in california as well as out of state, and with my work schedule of a 3 day work week, i have also played real estate agent to supplement the taste of the better things in life....

NOW i hope the IRS isnt reading this!!!!!!!!!!!And lets get back to P talk.

True and if you really want it an extra $1K is not going to break you, it costs $150+tax to get an oil change on these things.
