X74 vs PSS9
#32
This I don't understand at all. I would think the install would be the same, or more for the PSS9 due to adjusting ride height and corner balancing, that doesn't have to be done/can't be done with the x74.
What am I missing?
I've had my x74 for almost a year now and love it.

I thought X74 came as completed kit ready for install, not shocks and springs separate, might be confused though... The PSS9 with full geo will add to install value though, aprox $500 total, but then you get adjustablility and lower stance, worth the money I think. BUT, X74 is factory Porsche upgrade and nice GT stance. Both have very good but different positives... Still confused, either way I know I'll be smiling from ear to ear when I eventually get it fitted...

Question guys, I have a stock 2002CS. I have been told that my car sits lower than some others. I have Bilsteins. I have not yet measured the diameter of the sway bars. Are Bilsteins used on the stock C2 suspension, or only on the X74? My ride is not mushy & the setup seems pretty firm, but not unduly harsh. I came from Vettes, the last of which was a C5 with adjustable suspension that could shake your eyeballs loose, so I know harsh.

it is possible that you have the factory sport M030 suspension, lower ride height, thicker swaybars, shocks/struts by bilstein.
Bilstein made all factory dampers for the 996.

Here is a photo of the kit as it comes from Porsche. (Photo courtesy of Carnewall)

Thanks guys, going to make the dreaded descision in the next few days. Here's what a very trusted and reputable installer sent me...
"For simplicity the x74 wins out of the box. For onward tuning and bullet-proof performance the pss9 wins. Installation of the x74 is cheaper as there is no ride height or corner weight adjustments to be made.
X74 installation time is about 3 hours plus geometry baseline and adjustments, circa £320.00 all in incl vat. (total time 6.5 hours). Pss9 installation is about 5hours (including swapping top-mounts from old dampers to new), plus ride height settings, corner weight balancing, geometry baseline then adjustments. Cost circa £570.00 incl vat (total time 11hours)."
UCrazyKid, I'm edging toward the darkside for you and probably going the PSS9 route but you're help and reliable answers/posts have been much appreciated. Just thinking about possible suspension mods later on and the X74 stops that. Although in honesty it's only a '99 C4 and will probably trade up before that point. But then I may keep and SC it giving me a low stance 4WD performer... Damn this is hard!

PSS9s seem to be a lot less expensive than X74. the carnewal.com price is 1995 *euros* which is about $3000 US. tirerack has PSS9s for $1900 US. add a corner balance for $155 US and PSS9s still win for price.

Gert from carnewal is actually doing them for £1200 GB shipped (C4 only) which is just a little more than $1900 plus shipping to UK. It all works out very close when you factor in the install and alignment, like a difference of $100...

Uhh....actually, as of today, 1200 GBP = $2365 US dollars. Good for you, bad for us
