Help with jerky 1st-2nd shift
Hi,
I was hoping someone can diagnose my shifting problem - my 1st to 2nd shift is usually a touch jerky. I have tried different techniques:
- Revving to around 4,000 and going into 2nd
- Taking it easy and shifting around 2,000
I can't figure out the best way of doing this shift. After 3,400 miles everything else is OK - 2nd/3rd, 3rd/4th, etc. Just this pesky 1st/2nd..
Any diagnosis? Techniques I should try?
Thanks,
wino

I would not say my clutch release on 1st to 2nd is particularly smooth, but it is no different than the release from other changes, and they are smooth...
In general city driving, at what rpm do most 911 drivers shift from 1st to 2nd?
Thanks to all

IMHO, the 1-2 shift in most cars is difficult to make smooth. Probably has a lot to do with the revs dropping quickly and a relatively short first compared to second. All it takes is practice, practice, and some more practice. I know my 1-2 shifts are a lot smoother after a weekend of driving the car than when I first hop in. HTH.
