Road Trip
Wow! Just went through the whole thread and only one C4S Cabrio! Are they rare? I just sold my C2 Cab to get this car but never looked at production numbers. Guess I will have to look that one up.
Ok, I can't resist telling you guys about this trip we have planned to get our C4S. We fly out of Seattle on Monday to Phoenix. Pick up our 2004 Seal Gray C4S from Porsche North Scottsdale. Since I don't know how to post a picture into the post, the car is in my signature. First time working with these guys in Scottsdale. Anyone else ever work with them?
Below is our anticipated route. Please feel free to give any suggestions on great roads to drive or places to drive through or even places to eat and stay. However, we only have 6 days.
After delivery it is off to Vegas headed out the US-93 towards Kingman.
After Vegas we head to The Ahwahnee Lodge at Yosemite. Can anyone recommend Blue Star Memorial Hwy versus Three Flags Hwy?
From Yosemite we head West to San Leandro and then North to Calistoga. A referral for lodging here would be appreciated. Tried the Chanric Inn but it was booked.
Then it is up to Gold Beach Oregon following the 101 Hwy.
We continue up the 101 and cut over through McMinnville (wine country) to get to Portland.
Home bound up the I5.
The highlight for me truly is the C4S as it is a childhood dream come true. But I am just as excited to take my wife to The Ahwahnee Lodge. It will be a dream come true for her.
Can't wait!!!!! Thanks for indulging me. It's after 1am and I can't sleep

Well we made it home safely! An amazing trip!
Let me start with the car. I have had a 993 and 996 previously but neither were AWD. What a completely different experience! Diving into the corners has taken on all new meaning The car ran flawlessly. The sport exhaust plays the best note. I have since disconnected the "orange connection" in the motor box to keep it singing. The rims received a few small chips. The fact that they extend outside the lip doesn't help. A little bummed about that but oh well. I wouldn't trade it for the drive time.
Porsche North Scottsdale lived up to expectations and then some. They had a driver meet us at the airport. The car was as promised. They quickly switched out the marker lights for me before leaving. New key chains were handed out for each key. And I picked up a sweet 918 Polo along with some old posters to frame and put up in the garage. My wonderful wife stood back and just laughed at me. A kid in a candy store.
We hit very few interstates the whole drive. We took back roads as much as possible. Some of the highlights were watching the sunrise while barreling out of Vegas, crossing the Sierra Nevadas, Lake Tahoe, Yosemite, San Francisco, Sonoma and Napa Valleys and Mt. Shasta. We had tons of sunshine and the top down most of the trip. We put nearly 2300 miles on the car. One day we just kept driving because we were having so much fun! 13.5 hours later we called it for the day
Here are a few photos.

Nice car and congrats. IMO, fly in/drive back purchases are the only way to buy these cars. I did the same but went from GA to IL, decent bit of twisties and elevation changes made it exciting.
I can't wait in a few years where I'm hoping to buy a new BMW M Euro delivery and drive the Nurburgring. Practicing on GT5 in preparation.

I figured with all the C4S owners in this thread, this is probably the best place to get an answer to this question. Will I run into any issues running 235/35 front and 305/30 rears on a 19" rim? Does the side wall have to be 25? There are more tire options for the 305/30 then 315/25. Will the rolling diameter cause issues with 305/30 on the rear with all-wheel drive? Thanks and this is by far the best picture thread.
