Looks like I am due for a clutch soon....

Looking for ideas on what clutch and maybe a LW flywheel...car has 135k miles on it now, and under extreme conditions it started to slip...I was on a very steep driveway stopped....let out the clutch and I felt it slip, then it slowly moved and made it to the top, smelled the burnt clutch....For those that did it, what clutch did you use? I see the Saxhs clutch kit is about $300-400....so the rest would be labor...is it aout an 8 hour job? So at an indy, I should be around $1k? If I need a flywheel, thats another $500+ I guess, and a LW one should have a stronger clutch to deal with the faster spinning up and down of the engine....so that would mean a more expensive clutch...hmmm.....ideas?

A clutch is not 8 hours even by the book...Book time for a clutch should be 3-4 hours max...I went with the OEM clutch kit from Suncoast which i think was ~$400...It is strong enough to handle the power of any bolt on as it is...

As for the LWF, I never felt comfortable with the ones offered enough to pull the trigger. EVO has a nice setup it seems but their matching clutch makes the combo pretty expensive. I think GMG and Aasco are your only other alternatives.

You might not even need a flywheel either...

yes... the combo will run right under $2000. The labor is about 8 hours worth (which puts the whole thing at $3.5K... but guaranteed no chatter.

Ouch...I would go stock...considering your mileage, If you reach 200K, the clutch will prob still be good.

Awesome!! Mine will be 40K soon and I thought a new clutch wasn't going to be too far off.

My clutch slipped at 70K. You're pretty lucky to have your clutch last so long!

DO NOT BUY the aftermarket SACHS clutch kit... go with OEM porsche kit.... I had both installed on my car the OEM Porsche clutch has a stronger pressure plate and grips far better... I know people say that SACHS makes the porsche clutches but they are not the same quality!!! Suncoast has a great deal on OEM clutch kits... you can probably re-machine your flywheel... a new one is about $750 @ Suncoast...

on another note.. you got 100K on a stock clutch... wow! you probably never launch/drag your car??
