Benjamin Choi is infamous around these parts
I had the UUC w/ DSSR short shift on the M3 and it pales in comparison to the B&M unit on the 911.

I like the quality/fitment of the 997 interior, but I don't like the blocky 993 stylish console/dash design. I'm looking forward to what the 998 has to bring. Flat-8? More radical design? I'm in.

i love the 997 interior, all mags praise it to, but that can be subjective. all Porsches have great clutch,shifter, gearbox setups. the 997 shift is much shorter than the 996. also, im interested to see an 8 cylinder because we all know its gonna happen eventually as the flat 6 is running out of displacement.

Good stuff man. The thing about Dinan is you won't have any warranty issues as they are in with the BMW dealers. Whats the price on the VF's compared to the Dinan? I believe the Dinan is $11K w/out the intercooler.

I'm just playing around with some stuff already.......I sorta want to get ready for after the sale of my 996tt and the r/e project.... I really want to see what the new M3 V8 looks like in person. Even if I do like it, it will be at least 9-12 months before all the idiots stop paying MSRP+$10K. I ain't paying over MSRP for anything. I see where you can pick up an '06 M3 with Nav for upper $40's to low $50's. I just like the looks of the M cars over the P cars these days. Ask me next week and my mind will change again. My wife says the same thing and I said "just be happy I don't feel the need to change my mind and explore other women"

I may buy the new M3 as well, but like lemans will wait for the idiots to get theirs first. The dealer did tell me he would sell it at sticker and thought I would only have to wait for the first 4-5 cars before they could "let one go" at MSRP.

i like the e46 m3. not too many other bimmers do anything for me. Porsches and ferraris and lambos do tho. i believe if you go for the crem de la crem of the dinan SC it will cost you 23K! i actually just looked it up, almost 26K. thats ridiculous! http://dinanbmw.com/ vf costs 10K plus install. best kit out there IMO. plus you get a very higly R&D kit and the most hp for a stage one, and an intercool that isnt an option like it is with dinan.

$10K plus the install for a stage 1 SC + intercool is pretty damn good. What level of crank/wheel HP do you get with stage 1 VF?

the stage one fully bolt on without any other mods gives you 480 hp and 330 tq. with my mods added to that stage one i would easily be well well above 500 hp. not bad for 10K.

Maybe I am wrong. Explicitly on the 2003 996, the C2 is 2959 and the C4 is 3240 which in my math is more like 281lb or about 10% more weight. The Turbo is 3388 which is 429lb more than a C2. You can easily drop the C2 to 2880lb (est) with a light battery, gt3 seats, aftermarket exhaust and taking out the rear seats.
Add an exhaust and a K/N air cold air intake for about $1100 (combined) you (could) get a 12% hp increase (315bhp * 1.12 = 352.8).

hp to weight ratio (2003)
C2 with exhaust and cold air (est hp) and some minor weight reduction (est)
353bhp at 2880 = 8.158
Weight are DIN
1998-2001 c2=1320 (2910lbs), c4=1375 (3031lbs) = 121 lb diff
turbo = 1590
2002-2005 c2=1345 (2965lbs), c4=1405 (3097lbs) = 132 lb diff
turbo = 1590 (3505lbs)

diff between 2001 c2 vs 2003 c4 =187lb

I got these numbers from Porsche 911 story by Paul Frere Appendix C

edit==BTW thanks for the compliments
