JICs and GT3 sway bars installed!

I installed JIC Cross Competion coilovers recently (7K/11K) and also put in GT3 sway bars with TRG links. I also installed the Porsche engine protection plate and rear strut tower brace. The install too me some time, but it was time well spent. I learned a lot about the car. After the install, I got the car dialed in (camber -2.5F/-2.0R and toe 0 Front and 1/16" rear) at Custom Alignment in Moutain View and it drives beautifully. I have the JICs at 5 clicks from soft in the front and 7 clicks from soft. I have the front sway bars set to the middle hole and the rear set to hole from full stiff. The ride is very comfortable...maybe a touch more harsh than PSS9s. I'll know more after I get more seat time. I'll be hitting a AX at Candlestick this weekend and DE at Reno Fernly the weekend after.

On a side note, I know that many people wonder how much 996 C2a really weighs, so I thought I'd post my car's weight after it was corner balanced. My 99 C2 weighs
3084lbs and 3259lbs with my weight 175lbs (lightweight 02 5 spokes F/R 8”/10”, PS2 235/265, no floor mats except for 1 weathertech driver mat at approximately 5lbs, a hair over 1/4 tank of gas, a stereo amp at approximately 10lbs, heavier GT3 sway bars and TRG drop links, engine protection plate, no spare tire, no toolkit/jack, JICs which weigh the same as stock from my measurements, and the rear strut brace).

nice set up!! any pics of the strut brace? and are the TRG links on all 4 corners straight? of do the fronts have a bend in them?
do you happen to know the lengths of the TRG links center to center of the bolt holes?

Thanks for the compliment. Here are some pics. 2 of the Front sway bar bar links and one of the 2 of rear strut tower brace. I'd have to measure the links end to end, but I won't have time to do that in the next few weeks.

Where did you find the sway bars? I am having trouble finding them.

Awesome set up - I want to do the same thing on my 99.
Is the picture of your car the "right after" install shot? If so it should settle a little more
Curious what kind of $$ all of this suspension, tierod, swaybars and strut tower braces ran.....approx?

please let us know how you like this combo after you get a few hundred miles on it....

Yoops,

My set up cost me around $4K with the alignment. After the installation, the car was actually lower, but when I took the car into the shop for its alignment, the technician recommened that the car be raised to the point where the car's front control arms were parallel to the ground. Afterward, he adjusted the rear's height up to get a sub 1 degree rake. He said this setup would maximize the handling of the car at speed.

I have virtually the same setup on my '03 996C2. You won't be disappointed at the track. I went with slightly heavier springs (8k/12k) as I do more on the track, but have really enjoyed it so far. The "flat" feeling through a turn makes my old M030 suspension feel really spongy by comparison, so I'm happy to have made the change.

If you continue to feel like the car is a bit too bumpy on the roads, you may want to soften up the rears a bit, as the engine tends to weigh heavily on the rears over bumps. You could also soften the sway bar in the rear as well.

Curious how your setup works for you at the track - share when you have a chance if you make changes/etc as to how the car feels. I've found the settings toward the middle of the "clicks" tend to make the car feel really tight through the turn and loose coming out - I've softened my back settings to 3 from soft and tightened the front to the middle setting (8 from either) and the car tends to settle better through the turn - let me know how you end up!

How do the JIC's with 8/12 springs feel on the street / freeway for every day driving? This might be my next upgrade.
