Info needed re 996 Carrera rims vs. salt
Do you Florida guys know how detrimental ocean salt is to a 996 Carrera style (18", 5 spoke) rim or 996 rims in general? I'm moving to Melbourne, FL right on the beach this fall and am worried about the film of dried salt I saw on some cars there. I'll have it garaged while near the beach but exposed when working ~15 blocks inland. Also are these rims alloy or just painted? I've got a few little stone chips and am not sure how to best tidy them up. Anybody gone through these problems with salt and chips before?

Wellk direct contact with salt water and just left and not taking off by washing off is never a good thing, salt air on a car that is cleaned and taken care of is not a problem, I have a jetski and when I drop it in the water the rear wheels on my truck are in the salt water but I always hose it down when i return to keep after it, just enjoy that beach man.

You are a good candidate for Rejex
check out a thread on this board about this stuff. It is a great corrosion preventing coating that will be just what you want to protect your wheels, or any other exposed metal part.
