Need help choosing exhaust !!

I just bought a 2005 996 C4S and I am new to this forum. I know this has been beaten to death but, I would like some opinoins on the following exhaust brands: Fabspeed, Agency Power and Supersprint.
Also, if any of you have any of these exhausts in your 996 and live in the Miami or Ft. Lauderdale area, I would like to listen to them if it is OK with you.
I am looking for a low, bassy sound. Good craftmanship and fit. And, not extemely loud but, a bit louder than stock.

Thank you.

Have the Fabspeed on my 04 996 with their cold air setup. Even my wife says this is the way the car should have came from Porsche. Sound is great, slightly louder, no resonance, not import sounding at all, I was afraid of that too. Cold air improves throttle response and you can hear intake when getting on the gas. Mufflers are Beautiful! Hope this helps.

out of those exhaust you will probably find that fs is the more popular one on the forum. you should probably hear one in person before you get one however as the fs exhausts are sometimes too loud for people looking for a quieter exhaust. it all depends on what your own definition of "loud" is.

Thank you Phaphaphooey. The stock mufflers are not quiet either; I want probably something that is just a bit louder than stock. My main problem with the stock system is the sound. It sounds like a VW Beetle to me. And it is starting to bother me.

since you are new, if you have not already i would suggest that you look into the pse hack. there are extensive posts about this both here and over on renntech. essentially, you take your stock mufflers to a muffler shop and have them modify them to mimic the porsche sport exhaust. it is very cost effective at only a few hundred dollars and is louder than stock without being overbearing. only downside is that there are no hp gains to be had from this. here is a video of a 6speeder's c4s pre and post pse hack for reference: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GKYNCcxCWSY

Thanks phaphaphooey. I listen to them and still they sound like VW, just louder. Also, I got a picture of the innards of the Porsche muffler and for what I can see, they are extremely restrictive ! !

have you maybe looked into the Tubi exhaust? It's a little more expensive than Fabspeed and AP, but, imo, it sounds much better. Do a search for it, there is a couple vids.

that they are. i know that with an exhaust such as the fabspeed or the tubi (as others are recommending), your car will certainly not be mistaken for a vw. although this video is a slightly propaganda leaning as far as their products, this fabspeed video is very informative as far as showing the innards of the stock mufflers v. different aftermarket brands. the stock flow characteristics v. aftermarket is also insane, i had no idea the stock exhaust had to bounce around so much inside the muffler. http://www.fabspeed.com/videos/996%2...on%20Video.wmv

p.s. i know that b&b gets a bad wrap both in this video and on this board as far as being lower quality, but i have a triflow exhaust on my porsche and as far as construction, mine is top notch with no rusting and solid welds.

additionally, an aftermarket intake will change the sound characteristic of your exhaust and give it a slightly louder, more exotic tone as well.

Thanks everybody. I am definetly changing the mufflers. Now, the Tubi is another option that I haven't consider before (thanks Chasen). Phaphaphooey, thanks for the link. Very interesting.

Please, keep the opinions coming and thank you all again.

I installed the Schnell exhaust last year and it is an improvement over the factory exhaust, but not quite as loud as the fabspeeds.
I can send you a clip if you want to hear it, as I cannot upload it here.

I've got the Fabspeed and feel that it's just about right. It gets a bit louder after warmed up but bearable. I guess it's personal preference.

Good luck!

fabspeeds were not much louder than stock to me, so i went w/ bypass pipes which sound awesome! at low RPM's it sounds like a boat tho...
