My story has an early start but it took a while for me to understand. I like anything and everything when I was a kid that had power. My friend’s dad next door had a nine and I loved to hear it in the morning. A year out of school, I found a very tricked out nine on the cheap and drove the wheels off it for two years before selling it and going back to school. Only prob was, I really was too young to have a full grasp of the engineering and difference. I went through five or six BMW's over the years and grabbed a 928S4 when I was thirty. Drove the wheels off that one as well and was, according to my indy, the only guy that ever threw the timing chain without ragging out the valve train. Love that car but the clutches were way to costly. Only problem was, I was older but not understanding the differences again.

Last year I was driving my 01 BMW M Roadster and although I had about 15k in mods with TC Kline suspension and just about everything you could dream of, I was still doing a brake check every time I saw a 9 in the mirror. Shortly after that, I ran a 12psi Vortech blower on the M. Ohh, and you should know, at 450hp, that M Roadster is now a beast. Its simply freakin insane and can run down as well as easily walk away from most and any 9's that came knocking.

And then it happened, rode in friends GT. Rode in another friends GT3.
I was sick to my stomach knowing how much I had in the current Roadster while I was sitting in what I was trying to accomplish with the BMW. Now I new the difference, didn't have any questions and went on a hunt. Found my current Supercharged C2 with a huge list of mods. Its nuts! Does over 400hp at the wheels and makes my heart beat ever morning when I see it in the garage.

Funny Part Is:

I left my M Roadster in a buddy’s warehouse. I told him I would be back in a couple of days to get it and prepare it to be for sale. That was six weeks ago. Maybe I should pick it up and get it sold. Love that Porsche....

I always loved the 944 since they came out in the mid 80's. Strangely, I wasn't attracted to 911's because of their hard-to-drive reputation.

Bought my first Porsche, an 86 944 Turbo when it was 10 years old and under $10K.

Finally went to a 996 in 2000 when the dot com boom happened.

The mad money is gone, but Porsche, it's in my blood now.

The thread should be titled why a 911 v. just Porsche as I couldn't care less about the Cayenne, Cayman, Boxster.

I like the Porsche because of its history in motorsport. I wouldn't say it's the best looking shape on the road, but it's got credibility. Ferrari is the #1.

yeah... I'd have to say "Risky Business" definitely had an influence on my decision to buy a Porsche. That also made me want to go into business for myself as well with a girl name Lona.

Id still take a 911 over a Ferrari anyday. I have driven lots of cars and know people with supercars, they all think Porsches are still the best bang for anything. Pretty much the only supercar that you can drive everyday.

Just like a lot of people here, I've always wanted one as a kid. It's my dream car. My dream is to actually buy a brand new one, but since I bought a used one I'd like to think I'm halfway there.

To be honest Porsche was my 2nd choice. In 1977 when I was first able to buy a high end sports car I really wanted the Jag XKE 12 cylinder...but they stopped making that car in 1975(approximately) so I went with a 1977 silver 911...It turns out Porsche was the best decision I could have made because I am now on my 5th 911 and have been very pleased. Now I'm lusting after a GT3 RS.

I always wanted a 911 since I was kid. Now I'm having my own kid, I had to give up my 911, nontheless, I stay within the family and went with a Cayenne for the kid. I will be back in a 911 in a few years.
