I never wanted a Porsche. I had five Corvettes and I loved them all. But they started to get big and had big turning radius. They became less fun to drive. I drove a 993 and thought it was a bucket of bolts. When the 996 came out I was hooked. I do miss the low end torque of the big V8 however. I also like the fact that Corvettes are easier to get parts for. More choices of dealers some are open all night.

That Porsche commercial made my eyes water because I know what that boy was feeling. I am on a quest for my first!

I remember in HS seeing a lime green 930 and thinking, wow, that car looks fantastic being lime green. Then I started getting Road and Track and I was hooked. But, I could only afford Camaros and Mustangs till recently. In 1992, while living in Jacksonville, my soon to be wife's brother was best friends with a guy named Hurley Haywood from Saw Grass. Porsche always gave him a free turbo each year to drive and then sold it as his car the next year. I was lucky enough to drive one of them and be friends with Hurley. Hurley always wanted me to get one and offered to get me a deal but being a Lieutenant in the Navy, it was beyond my means.

Alas, my wife is now my X wife and I seldom talk to Hurley any more but I did send him a picture of my new car through my x in laws who I am very close too still. It was a great experience making a dream come true. I think he would be happy. I know I am. I drive the car in the rain I love it so much.

I was a vette guy, c 3,4 & 5, & as any vette guy will admit always loved the 911. First drove a brand new carrera in 91 & knew I would have one eventually. Finally in June, with the need to transport my 6 & 4 year old I traded my 97 vette & c220 benz for a sweet 2002 c2 & havent looked back.

When I decided to replace my 20 yr old Beemer with a new Beemer, my wife suggested seeking alternatives ... Benz SL, CLK. As my wife is quite a fanatic with researching anything before making a big purchase, she ventured into Porsche. She stated she always wanted one when she was a kid.

Let just say, I did not question her ....I told her I'm supportive of her choice. She also stated that it has to be a Carrera/911.

I've got this problem with always having to "move up" and I had just gotten tired of the 3 series.
