Question about Bridgestone Potenza R050A

Hi guys,
I have to change my rear tires (285/30 R18). In this size we haven't so much choice in N-rated tires
  • Michelin Pilot Sport Rib (I heat them)
  • Bridgestone S02 N2 (they are fantastic)
  • Bridgeston S02A N3(all my friends who proved them were disappointed. Best S02 N2)
  • Continental Sportcontact N2 (good choice, a bit hard, excellent tread wear)
  • Pirelli P Zero (I'll never mounted Pirelli, I have no very good experience with them)
I read in tirerack that Bridgestone Potenza R050A Pole Position are one the best. Could anyone tell me your experience? handling, cornering stability, steering response, trade wear, noise comfort. They aren't N rated tires, but I see that there are lot of people here in this forum who like mounting other kind of tires different from N rated from Porsche.

Thanks

I wore mine out in less than 10k miles after a fresh alignment job on my m3. It wore out fast and was noisy. I don't think i would get it again.

First of all, what car are you talking about because that would really help if you want help. I have a C4S and have 295 size Bridgestone Potenza R050A Pole Position tires on and they are the best I've ever had on the car. The guy who recommended these tires was once a tire manufacture tire tech rep (Goodyear) and explained why and gave me some sort of mathematical solution on the reason behind the tread design. I too was in the market for N-rated tires. He also told me that the tires are designed with Porsches in mind concerning the negative camber settings on Porsches suspension and that the tire is stiffer and thicker on that portion of the tire. These tires stick like glue and really have been holding up to my spirited driving. I would highly recommend these tires for any Porsche driver. Oh by the way, the C4S do come with 295s and not 285s.

I alse have 295 size Bridgestone Potenza R050A Pole Position rear tires - I'm on my second set. They're a bit noisy, but very stick - in a good way. I wanted Sport Pilots, but the fronts are still good to go, so that makeover won't happen for another 10,000 miles or so. In the interim, I'm 95% satisfied.

they're as noisy and as good as the PS2s.

and cheaper which makes the PS2s obsolete.

Thanks guys!

My car is a 996 Carrera '04

front: 225/40 R18
rear: 285/30 R18

Front tires are good enough to be changed, but rear are at the end of their life

There are not so many choices in these sizes. I like very much Good Year Eagle F1 GSD3. I had two sets in my former BMW 320 Ci and they worked perfectly, but It's not suitable in 285/30 R18

My tires dealer told me this mornig that in Spain we have no chance to buy Bridgestone R050A Pole position. Only R050A are able.

Finally I purchased them. Let's my experience in next weeks.
I'll post my opinion here

the bridgestone re050 pole positions are a great tire for the money... prolly the best ive had for a high performance STREET tire - I havent tried the michelin ps2's, which are normally compared to these tires. If you want to spend more try the yokohama ad07s, which are supposed to be the new best street tire.

get em from tirerack... best, cheapest, and quickest place to buy from.

The problem is that I live in Madrid (Spain).
I usually buy my tires in a dealer similar to tirerack and got a very good discount

Tirerack is based on USA and It would be so expensive the shipping to Spain

they're great street tires period in the top tier along with the PS2s.

the PS2s are just way too expensive now that they've got competition.

E28 M5. I have had a lot of the older Bridgestones. RE71R, 2 sets Pole position older model, etc. I got the PS2 at the recommendation of Tire Rack. They wear well, good dry traction, and are sticky in the wet. Best tires yet. The only way I would go back to Bridgestone anything would be at the Tire Rack recommendation. But they are usually right.

Thanks!

I paid for the rear tires (285/30 R18) Potenza R050A, 170 € = 232 $ (each)

What do you think about this price?
