Rear Sitting Lower Than Normal?
Hello all, I installed Champion Motorsport springs on my 2001 c2 911. After the install, the rear is sitting a good 1/4 of an inch lower than the front. Is this normal?
Thank You, Russ

Course not.
If it is normal (for Champion)......that's unacceptable.
If anything......most people with adjustable height suspensions, dial-in some rake (rear to front).......not the other way around.

I really never noticed if the car sat lower in the back (pre-springs) or not? I do not think that the spring setup was intended to make the rear lower. I really wanted to know when the car new, was it lower in the back than the front from the factory? Thus by installing the springs, it would have lowered it the same making the rear lower than the front still.

Dump the spings and get a true lowering suspension.
I had springs in for 3 weeks before I ripped them out and installed the X74. Like newport says, you are compressing the shock/strut with lowering springs and I had a problem at speed when hitting bump the shocks/struts would decompress like normal and the car bounced, very bad and unsafe.
So quit being cheap and get a suspension that lowers and gives you the look and feel that you should have.

is your car a cab? b/c i've seen the same problem in the past...some springs did not differentiate coupe vs cab and made the cab sag in the rear...

I do have a Cab. When I bought them, they were listed as Cab springs. Probally some flunky selling of his trash he ended up with. Well, i guess you live and learn. By the way... someone tell me how to post pictures. When I try, it says there is some error. I made sure the file size was not to big. Any help?
Thanks, Russ

Its possible that the installer didnt remove the rubber spacers in the front, they are good for a least 1/4" in height. This is how my car came out originally too. When the car was in for the alignment, I had the spacers removed and came out perfect Good luck!

Think about it, when you lower the car your shocks will then be in a partially compressed state at all times. Also more weight is on the rear so if your shocks are bad, it will sag in the back. For lowering springs you should install a matched set of shortened shocks so you get full shock travel as well...This is why coilovers are so popular, you get a matched set and more adjustability with not that much more cost than springs and shocks....springs only is kinda doing it on the cheap....
