996 Performance Mods
Ive been here for a little while now and havent seen anyone talking performance numbers. Im trying to see exactly what can be done, where money is worht is, and peoples opinions.
This is what I have found so far
Chip:
GIAC Chip - + 23 hp for 99-99.5, +8~12hp for 00-01 - $995
Intake:
V-Flow Intake - +10-12 Hp and Tq - $595
Plenum:
Power Intake Plenum - 30ish HP - $995
As you see lots of money to get any power. What have others done to there rides to get a little more umph!!!

best way to get the most power for your money is to buy a turbo...jk supercharge it. I have done every single bolt on that I can find to my car, sure its fast, but not fast enough, my next car is definitely going to be a turbo

+2 for S/C...it's the best bang for the buck, the other stuff is a waste of money if you want really big HP gains IMHO. Basically the Porsche engine is already good to go in NA trim, so you have to use FI.

yeah, I only added the Agency exhaust and KN intake for the sound. Made a nice improvement ear-wise and shaved some weight, but nothing noticeable on the dyno.
My next pcar will be a Turbo as well

Learn to drive your car to it's potential, perhaps a suspension upgrade. I thought I was a good driver until I went to the track. The instructor in the car said one thing more than anything else and that was "more gas here". I will be going back to NHIS (loudon NH) on the 22 of this month. I will try to use more of the car's potential and gas.

+3 on the supercharger and +1 on more seat time/instruction.
I have around 2,000 track miles on my 99 and I am still amazed at the level of all around performance this car has.
...with that said, I have the need for speed after having Z06's and modded Evo's crushing me down the straights of most tracks I frequent....needless to say, I'll be boosted come our 2008 season opener!

I say dont supercharge! Keep it normally apirated or go to a Turbo. In 10 years Porsche has only raised the power 31hp on the Carrera. You car is lighter = faster with the same hp. : ) just my .02

Sell it and buy a TT...
I went thru this with my C2, NA P-cars are tuned pretty good from the factory, other then supercharging it, i have not seen anythings that gives you hugh gains.Depending on what you want the power for is what you should do, if its a track car then a GT3 is the way to go, however if your looking for strait out HP and quater mile times....TT no question. Seat time does improve your lap times, but still doesnt help you with power.
