If you are a DIY person like me...
I looked into this somewhat, I found the best way to have a cheap TT car is to buy a base C2, sell the motor for 3-5k and then I found (at the time) a complete TT pullout from PCM to pan motor for $12k.
Thsi would be the best long term reliable option to be able to make real big power.

You are right, and that is why I have not done it, it has been a thought on a backburner that has not been fully researched.
I have seen "ebay" transmissions for about $3k with the clutch assembly. Intercoolers could be made from scratch, and I am sure there would be some wire splicing to the BCM.
I just threw out another option to have a true TT car if he did not want a wide body heavier AWD TT car.
If you really want a fast turbo car, I will sell you my Pro touring 1000 hp TT Chevelle!

ruf will use either the narrow or wide body and u can have them build a turbo car around either one.
on older 911's...N/A to turbo conversions are more common too.

heck you could get some more power with like an intake, plenum piece, exhaust and full ecu tuning ...you would definately notice that and your car would stil be pretty simple but AWESOME sounding...
