Questions: The stock unit is composit/plastic? Does the aluminum have a heat sink effect and if so, does that cancel the benefit of increased flow?

Obviously not. I've already dyno'd it. It works as advertised.

the plennum is coated with some type of ceramic coating and is a very good insulator.

$1k is just too much for me. If they lower the price in the future by a few hundred I'll consider it.

If this isn't worth a $1000 to you, then you need to go buy one of those tornadoes for your intake instead

Here's my dyno. I had my wife put it into a spreadsheet since I don't have a scanner.

Silver_6R its not about being cheap. So I assume with that philosophy you paid FULL RETAIL for your car and didnt negotiate a lower price. You certainly wouldnt want to be called a CHEAP'O! LOL

Huh? With that logic you are basically saying that all parts (good quality or bad) for the PCar are going to be expensive and we should just take it like a man? Not buying it. Some companies will try to push the "Neiman Marcus" style but it is not always the best idea.

It would, from a marketing and business angle, make more sense for the company who makes the intake to look at the actual cost to make one of the intakes (including packaging), look at how many have been sold and ascertain the profit. Assign that profit to the initial design expenses and then calculate a mark-up that is fair for them AND MORE IMPORTANTLY they will begin selling more of them. That is as long as their manufacturing costs are low enough.

Think about it, better to sell 100@$1,000 or 500@$500? Customer acquisition is a mighty powerful thing...

Sorry for the rant, just hit me the wrong way

No need for name calling. I just don't have unlimited funds to sink into my car for everything available to it.

2nd that... If I had unlimited funds I would have gotten a TT...

I understand engineering/development costs though for a part that size, no moving parts, etc. $1,000 is a bit steep. Heck, for not a lot more than that yu can buy Sport 500 Turbos (no they are not for a Pcar) which undoubtedly require much more engineering and tighter tolerances.

Think about it; sell them for $500 and a WHOLE lot more people purchase, more customers to come back to buy other stuff! Actually I am surprised that there are not knockoffs on ebay already
