Traffic Pro and GAL
I need to tap into the speed wire for my traffic pro. I beleive that the speed wire goes to my DSP Nokia Amp instead of to the CDR 220 A1 position 1 bank.
Does anybody kn ow where I can find this cable to tap into? I was told that a 'Pink' wire behind the fuse panel is the correct one. But no definitive yet. Intial inspection does not show the pink wire. Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a 99 996 C2

If you had a CDR-220 radio as the OEM Radio, the speed signal wire is already there in the right place.
Assuming you still have the OEM radio connectors intact. The correct pin is on connector "A" which is the black on on the bottom, pin 1, which is the first pin on the top row on the left. (looking at the radio from the back) It is usually grey with a pink stripe.

Then look for the grey wire with a pink stripe on it at your DSP plug(s). That is the speed signal wire.
If you are looking at the relay rack (not the fuse panel) up under the drivers side firewall, the relay position is #23 and the pin is position is 1/1
Relay #23 is the first one on the bottom row, and pin position 1/1, is the top row of pins. once again this is a grey wire with a pink stripe on it.

OK, I see the relay position 23. Now, how do I access it to get to the pin and or grey/pink wire? I can actually see two grey/pink wires behind the entire board through the next relay position becuase it is open. Any help would be appreciated. I did look at the DSP Amp and found NO grey/pink wires. Much easier to work in that area.

So just to make sure, there is not a grey/pink wire on the radio harness right?
If so, then you need to tap into one of the leads at the relay carrier.
There are a couple of ways to do it. The way the carrier is attached is by a plastic push clip on the outboard (left) side of the carrier.
With the release of that clip (it is molded into the carrier), it swings off to the right on to pegs on the left side of the carrier.
Lots of things use the speedometer signal, so there will probably be several grey/pink wires. I would suggest that you just splice into one of the existing wires by using one of those little blue inline splice clips to add the wire to run to the radio.
If you can get at a length of grey/pink wire to add the slice clip without removing the relay carrier, all the better.
Last issue is do you have a pigtail with the right pin on it to stick in the radio connector? If not you can get those at a Porsche/Audi/VW parts counter.
Tell the parts guy you need one of the smaller ones for the radio connector. If he knows his stuff, he will know what you mean.
I am really surprised that there is not a speedometer signal lead already run to the radio or DSP.

Thanks again. I will try one last time to find a grey pink wire so that I don't have to open the relay carrier. I am all set with the pigtail. Just need to get another inline splicer. I really appreciate your help. Have a good weekend!
