Broke my center console hinge.
Today I broke the hinge on my center console armrest. Should I replace it or is there a MOD that I could to improve storage capacity and maybe add a cup holder?
I would like to hear what you think and also see some photo’s if you have them.
Thanks,
Paul

this is a known and common problem covered under warranty. are you out of warranty?
they replace the cheap plastic hinge with a metal one.
i personally dont like the higher one you are talking about.

It's a 2001 and I am second owner so I don't have a warranty. But, I am a member of PCA here and some of my friends might know of someone who can replace it with the metal one.
Thanks.
Thanks.

odd- my '02 came with a metal hinge (I just had the console painted and CF overlay done on the console lid).
It's not that tough to replace the hinge if the console is out of the car.

I have it right here with me as I need to repair mine and yes it is metal.
Just need to find the instructions on how to do this repair and it does come with rivets.

With respect to the aftermarket storage lid door, I've had friends order them only to return them. They look a bit akward in my opinion, and my neighbor, after looking at it and putting it in his 996tt without actually installing it, thought it might interfere with his shifting. Also, the aftermarket pieces (from "Bird" automotive, if I recall correctly), are pretty pricey.
