Took rear bumper off, forgot to connect plate lights.....

Silly me forgot to reconnect the license plate lights when I re-installed the rear bumper after installing my new exhaust.

It is not a big deal, I'll just have to remove the bumper again unless anyone knows a trick to get in there.

The good thing is that I got my fabspeed exhaust on and it sounds great!

My installer did the same thing, and they just took the bumper back off again.

How did you replace your bumper, just trial and error or did you have a manual or sth. like that?

I know this is an old thread but I'm looking for some diagrams to remove/replace the bumper too !

I have a strange rattle coming from the rear and think I have a loose intercooler.

If you guys still have the doc I'd very much appreciate a copy.

Tool needed: 1 Torx screwdriver (small size bit - not exactly sure of the size of the bit). You will use this same Torx screwdriver all throughout the entire procedure. Pop the hood for the engine bay and you'll see 4 Torx screws that attach the bumper to the body. Use that to find the correct size Torx bit.

It's a 15-minute job. Having an extra pair of hands will help. It's quite simple.

1. remove 4 Torx screws inside rear fender wells behind the wheel. The first one is close to the top of the fender well(right about 1 o'clock). Use a flashlight to find it. The other 3 screws hold the fender liner in place. You don't need to take out all of the screws for the fender liner; just the ones closest to the rear. Do this for both left and right sides of the car.

2. Pop the hood(engine hatch) and remove all 4 Torx bumper screws.

3. Loosen the top and bottom(not the middle) of the 3 Torx screws for the rear lights

4. Carefully pull and slide the light towards the middle of the car. Disconnect the wiring. Place the lights away from the car in a safe place.

5. Remove the plastic clip/pins (1 per side). You'll see these once you remove the lights.

6. Underneath the rear bumper you'll see the same Torx screws(approx 6). Remove them all.

7. At this point, the bumper is loose and ready to come off. Have a buddy hold one side while you hold the other then pull the entire bumper off slowly.

8. Once the bumper is off slightly, you'll see the wiring for the PDC(park distance control) and license plate lights. Disconnect this.

9. Lay the bumper away from the car preferably on a big blanket or the like.

email me if you have any questions or if any of these steps are unclear. Would be glad to assist.
