Over Revved the engine today.
Praying that all is ok. No weird noises yet. I have never done this in 20 years. Sheesh I feel like a novice. Down shifted from 6th to 4th and hit 7000 rpm. Held it there for a second. Anyone else done this before? Any problems?

Hope it turns out ok. I didn't know 7000 rpm's was the limit.

He could get the Over revs erased or replace the ECU out of the Dealer network.

maybe your dealer will network you? I think there is an day hours and min recording as to when it occured ecu is introduced and removed, once you switch they can easily see if the ecu was tampered with. big brother.

You would know right away if a piston hit a valve. 7000 won't hurt, they have chips that set the rpm at 7600 with no harm. Lucky you caught the rpm, often with such misshifts, the rpm is over 8000 if doing +80m/h and the engine valves get bent a bit.
You can make engine-destroying mistakes by overheating etc, or drive the car into a lake, but you best not overrev....Porsche nor your insurance pays for that small bit of carelessness. And yet Porsche and BMW make the synchronizers so slick, that the driver can put the gear in second at speeds over 100 mph with no grinding.

I'm only aware of one company that can change the over revs or make an ecu as original and that is Softronic. Either way Im sure the car is probably OK.

The Company was started by Scott Slauson a PCA and PCNA technical adviser. I do not want to get in trouble for posting but their web site is at Softronic.us . They supply most of the flashing and technical info to tuners and perform the new PCA data checking. I'm sure you can ask them questions. Scott does most of the data and programming questions on the Cayman Club website and others I believe.
