wheel cap/HRE question

wheel cap/HRE question
Although my TT is on the water, I'm trying to get all the goodies lined up before it arrives in a few weeks. I've decided on HRE P40's, and will be visiting HRE in Vista CA tomorrow morning to look at all the available finsihes. I think I will run their brushed/clearcoat finish, but need to see it first hand to be sure.
For those who are using their brushed/clearcoat finish, what did you do for the center caps? What are my options?
Thanks
Dick

i personally love the HRE red/blue/white logo... i had them on my C20s and they really popped on a flat black faced wheel. they will look equally as good for brushed finish...

I am not aware of anyone offering Porsche colored crest wheel cap that will match that brushed aluminum finish. You might want to check with Ralph Boothe and see if he has any suggestion. http://www.boothedesign.com/centercaps.html
I of course went with the silver powder coat finish because to my eyes (purely matter of personal preference, YMMV) the alum. brushed finish looks somehow "unfinished" and maybe a little too shiny. For the silver powder coat finish, it's easy as you just get the OEM caps.

Dick, you should get the same finish that Cannga suggested. That way it'd be easier to refinish your wheels if the need should ever arise.

Yes, and there is even a set of colored crest silver center caps in the For Sale Forum for much less than list.

Cheap sale push aside, I did go back and forth many times and am extremely happy with my choice.

Hello guys,
The Monobloks are cut to accept the factory Porsche caps, and a special (larger) HRE cap that we have designed exclusively for the monobloks. These larger caps snap into the wheels because they are of similar construction as the factory caps. The standard HRE cap that typically comes with the black/silver logos (which can be ordered with the Red/White/Blue logos) is smaller than the Monoblok caps. Consequently, we don't have any Red/White/Blue logos for the larger caps, because we have only sourced the black/silver logos.
In a nutshell, you can run and type of factory Porsche cap or the HRE logo disc that is black/silver, and has a chrome bezel.

the non-colour HRE logo looks better IMO...
Ideally, I would run a set of OEM caps with 'turbo' script cause I also think the Porsche crest is too colorful. Besides, any model Porsche can run the crest but only the cayenne TT and the 911 TT can pull 'turbo' off
My 1 pence (I am in London and the exchange rate is more or less 1 to 2 LOL)

Marc at HRE was very gracious today and showed me the available finishes and caps. I'm going to go with the brushed/clearcoat finish. I have a white M3 cab with RAC Monolites (Champion manufactured forged wheels) that are silver powderocat, and to my eye the brushed aluminum will look better against my white TT. I think I would have chosen the silver powdercoat if the car had been red, blue or black though - white cars seem to need a bit more "punch" with wheels. HRE has a new matte black powder finish that has a nice texture to it - I'm sure younger people would jump on this finish for white car - but I'm old!
As far as the center caps, I may have to make some myself. We have Haas CNC equipment at work and I'll probably make a set of centers up and mill in the script "turbo" like the stock Porsche centers. Maybe since I'm buying a set of HRE wheels I can talk them into brushing/clearcoat my homemade 6061-T6 caps to match for me? :>))
HRE has a really nice modern shop - they are great people and are very willing to assist us select just what we want - they realize a set of their wheels is a relatively big expense and want us to get exactly what we want - thanks Marc!
