Last week I got a call from my mechanic at Sonnon Porsche (Danny) telling me to come on over and check out a car exactly like this one that Champiom Motorsports had trailered all the way from Florida to have him work on and place on Sonnon Porsches exclusive Bisbarth system (sorry but the spelling might be off). Only the Porsche factory has this sophisticated alignment system and Sonnon claims to be the only Porsche dealership to have one. Anyhow I spoke to Edrick Cosme (design engineer for Champion Motorsport) about the different mods this car (pictured above) has gone through. In a few months it may be featured in Excellence magazine so keep an eye out for it. This cars color looks so much better in person (the color is unique to Champion Motorsport and its painted at the factory not re-sprayed) The interior was just as impressive. Edrick noticed several issues here in California (1) our roads are no where near as nice (flat) as in Florida so we have to take that into consideration when lowering our cars and choosing our suspension mods. (2) Californias 91 octane (the highest available here unless you mix 100 at your local track) really affects performance and having a setting where the computer is programed to optimize 91 would be really beneficial. The factory tunes these cars the same for the USA (optimized for 93 octane) so no special settings for California. We spoke for a good half hour and I was impressed with his knowledge and experience with the 997 Turbo. In a few months you guys can read all about it in Excellence.
