More importantly, the performance of the GT-R is far beyond the 997TT. As the article indicated, it makes the 997TT look dated and old which it is.

The good news is Porsche will have to change it corporate philosophy of incremental change in styling, engineering and performance to keep up with the competition.

Putting the 997TT aside for the moment, ask yourself this; given the price of the GT-R why would anyone buy a 911? Most buy the 911 because of the performance/price ratio. The GT-R obliterates the 911 advantage in this crucial category.
Look who's in town to get schooled ..

I wont even chime in on this, had enough in the other GTR thread.

so i've been a long time lurker of the site and this thread has made me go out of my way to create an account..

i find it absurd at how simple minded some of you people are in calling it just a nissan..first of all nissan has been building quality automobiles since they came out. Just because alot of their better made cars have never made it to the states i.e. R32-34 GTR's, Silva's S13-S15, older datsuns and things of the like, most of you don't know about the quality and performance values of these cars.

Not to mention even the cars that didn't come from the nissan factory as performance auto's have still been tried and proven in all sorts of racing. The 240sx for example has been dominating the tuner market for quite sometime now. I have driven and help to build numerous 4 cylinders that would stomp all over your coveted porsches. Don't get me wrong i am a HUGE porsche fan thats obviously is what brings me to this site, but I don't want to see the arrogant porsche owners bashing cars from a lower level of price bracketing. Honestly thats a very tacky and lacking in class thing to do.

the moral of this story is just stop being so simple. Most of you don't know anything about the automotive performance scene you just have large bank accounts and small *****'s therefore you purchase big car(this statement doesn't apply to the more tuner conscious gentleman of this website) anyway hopefully the next time you see a highly tuned nissan, honda, VW, mitsu, or subbie(not silly taillights and obnoxious muffler) just show it some more respect..especially when some of these highly tuned tuner vehicles can see anywhere between 300-1000hp and easily stomp your porsche. Matter of fact i have a grocery getting honda civic that i'm willing to put titles on the line against anyone in the tri state area with a porsche, ferrari, or lambo and you can kiss your car goodbye..come on guys? anyone? or are you too afraid of what 372hp in a 2000lb car that lives at 10Krpm's can do to you? amazing what $10k and alittle know how gets you..10.8 @ 129mph..BUILT NOT BOUGHT..funny i bet if most of you went to the track in your cars you would probably be atleast a second or 2 over the factory 1/4mi specs haha..getting into that car probably makes you really feel like a "real driver" don't go miss shifting now..kill list available upon request..

I agree with the first 3/4 of your post, there is absolutely no reason to bash or look down noses at a car for it's brand name.

But if you think your 10.8 is going to scare anyone, .

And a real driver takes turns at 129 mph.

That's cool bro and a great accomplishment, but there is no need to go throwing your weight around in here, not cool.

So you are suggesting we arent supposed to know what NA means? I dont care who beats what on engine specs, I care that it makes power and beats people at the track and my TT does enough of that for me.

What sanctioned and regulated track day allows drivers to simply swap cars between drivers and what kind of knucklehead just hands over his car to anyone but his instructor, especially when the car is a light near-1000 horsepower sports car with an uneven power band?

Dude, calm down. No one here called the GTR a POS (its ugly, but still not a POS); we were mainly saying that we wouldn't buy it.

And trust me, no one here wants to race your turbo civic either... let's stay on topic: GT-R

So if you bring your brand new N/A (=not available) GT-R to the track and race for pinks, I'm sure someone will sign up for that.

before i got into the manhattan real estate market i was seriously involved with the tuner world..i worked for Eastern Autosports which was a mecca in its time in the tri-state area for anyone who wanted to make their car faster from pinto to veyron. i've attended more sanctioned events then you've ever browsed through posted images of on the net..lets just say a lot of owners wanted to see what their cars were capable of
