before i got into the manhattan real estate market i was seriously involved with the tuner world..i worked for Eastern Autosports which was a mecca in its time in the tri-state area for anyone who wanted to make their car faster from pinto to veyron. i've attended more sanctioned events then you've ever browsed through posted images of on the net..lets just say a lot of owners wanted to see what their cars were capable of

What is the challenge, in what form of racing? You gonna put your 10 sec civic on the road course? And tape it? Or are you talking about roll-ons

If irony were a precious metal, this post would be gold.

The GTR is an amazing car and will surely beat a lot of other models on the road with its dynamic ability, but as a lot of people know that doesnt always translate into ownership pleasure.
For example if i owned a 911 turbo i would probably get the same amount of pleasure from just opening up the garage door and seeing its timelessly beautiful rear end profile and anticipating another amazing drive in the hills, then actually driving the GTR!
But then again dont listen to me im just a 911 fanboy!

Stephan1483-
You make some great points. I am a proud owner of 2 Hondas and they are wonderful cars. And you are right - the Japanese tuner aftermarket has been great, although emphasis seems to be placed on straight line speed. With a few exceptions, they have not been competitive in European sports car racing or in F1, although the latter may be on its way - the Toyota team has been outspending even Ferrari in Formula One.
One correction - Nissan began as a company building boats and a few cars for the Japanese Navy and Army during WWII. Not that those of us who love Porsches have anything to crow about - Porsche built cars for the *****.
i just like 911 Turbos. Jet-powered aircraft are faster than any of these cars and they travel in 3 dimensions (sometimes in 4D), but I just happen to like Porsches. To each their own...

You remember me at all? I use to come and play poker with a few of the G guy's with Paul, been a long *** time!
Thanks BTW.. Not all owners are ignorant, we are just loyal Porsche owners and huge car enthusiasts as a whole.. I said some comments about the GTR but it was based on my preference of car's I previously had and own now, it just doesn't appeal to me in any way but will be a great performer for sure!

Let's be reasonable here, the NSX has 290 hp compared to the competition, which 400+ in most cases.

Until someone actually drives the car there wont be much to go on, but Im sure the performance of the GTR will be great. But for my .02 cents, after driving in an SMG M5 for one year, I cant wait to be back in a manual car again.
Any reviewer that says SMG or Auto or anything but manual is more involving or as fun is automatically ignored in my opinion. I'm not arguing that SMG isnt safer, or shifts faster, but simply that its so uninvolving that its less fun, as a result I end up driving my M5 faster to make up for it because otherwise I just dont have as much fun. Meanwhile in my old M3 every shift was a pleasure and let me enjoy the car at much safer speeds.
Then you have to question Nissan's release of this car, they are aiming to beat Porsche, but in their pursuit of "bragging" rights they forgot that its actually about something that can't be measured on paper with 0-60 times, but instead fun and enjoyment. And here the lack of a manual option just screams at me that someone in Nissan made a huge error.

Shouldn't be too bad...the last thing I read said that dealers with GTR allocations are required to invest 40K in tech training etc. More mark-up anyone??
