I agree that it is a Nissan and you don't get the luxury of a Pcar. But performance vs. performance....it's there and maybe +. This is not a brand-name ***** car, it's a driver’s car. It's like the Z06....many MB/BMW/Pcar owners will say it's just a Chevy, but that's obvious. People that konw cars will konw what the GT-R's and the Z06's can do (i would never wana own a Z06 personally , nor am i going to be in the market for the GT-R). Everyone will forever know it's a Nissan...that's not to take anything away from it.........unless you wana pull chicks with your car brand.

So let me get this straight, its not a ***** care, its a driver's car, no compromises, and yet it doesn't come in a manual?

Thanks man,Ya that was my car if you saw the on at the NWP4LIFE.com meet. There is one in Mission like mine and another in Texas who is REALLY slammed. And i would never use my car as a way to pull a girl....unless she is Jessica Biel, but then i don't think she would be impressed by what i have

Nissan has been fudging the numbers a bit....which explains a lot.

Maybe I'm living in the past but seeing this car just kills me because of how much I love the R34. I mean this car seems much less raw, definitely less attractive, and just a marketing ploy. Kind of how I see the new M3.

Why the obsession with small *****'?

And seriously, you come on here and put down as many Porsche owners as you can and throw down the gauntlet with a 10.8 modded Civic?? I am sure you have beaten many (slower) cars, but are you seriously saying your car is unbeatable? If not, why are you putting up pink slips? There is ALWAYS someone faster and chances are they are on this board. This is NOT the place to be talking smack.
Be careful what you ask for, you just may get it...

Now, either act like an adult or take your ***** envy and go back to the civic boards.

Jeff, what would someone here do with a POS Civic? Couldn't even get rid of it.

Just a quick question regarding the GT-R's curb weight: we all know the quoted numbers, but does it really matter how much it weighs if the overall balance between the chassic, the engine, the brakes and whatnots is such that the driver doesn't feel the added bulk (relative to cars like the C6 Z06 and 997TT)?

Numbers don't always tell the whole tale, do they? Because if they do, then we should all be questioning the 997 GT2's 7:33 Sport Auto 'Ring time especially in comparison to the CGT's 7:32 time (although I to think the MPSCs used in the 997 GT2 is worth 5 secs at the very least).

The amount of positive press the GT-R is currently getting is frankly overwhelming (probably why it's beginning to grate on some). But the coverage are not from some fly-by-night fan-operated newsletters. EVO, Top Gear, Car, etc. etc. These are some of the most respected mags out there. I for one refuse to believe that Nissan somehow managed to coax virtually all the reviewers into falsely thinking (and reporting) that the GT-R is better than it really is.

Just my two cents (pretty much worthless in dollar terms).

Any reviewer that says SMG or Auto or anything but manual is more involving or as fun is automatically ignored in my opinion. I'm not arguing that SMG isnt safer, or shifts faster, but simply that its so uninvolving that its less fun, as a result I end up driving my M5 faster to make up for it because otherwise I just dont have as much fun. Meanwhile in my old M3 every shift was a pleasure and let me enjoy the car at much safer speeds.

Then you have to question Nissan's release of this car, they are aiming to beat Porsche, but in their pursuit of "bragging" rights they forgot that its actually about something that can't be measured on paper with 0-60 times, but instead fun and enjoyment. And here the lack of a manual option just screams at me that someone in Nissan made a huge error.
i didn't order for this same reason. i keep hearing the v spec version will have a manual though, should be out 1 year after the regular GT-R is released. supposedly 200kg lighter too but we'll see about that.

I haven't came across any Dynapack numbers for the 997TT, but a stock 997TT did make 410awhp/428awhp (non-sport/overboost) on Evoms' Mustang dyno. Mustang dynos typically read lower than Dynapack/Dynojet dynos though. Dynapack numbers are said to be roughly similar to Dynojet numbers (not sure personally).

Nearly 480whp (or more precisely hub hp) for a stock GT-R is pretty impressive. Even if we take away 50whp to take into account the absence of rollers/tire slippage and the higher reading relative to a Mustang dyno, we're still left with 430whp. 530 or so crank hp if we put the drivetrain loss at 20%.

But IMHO, dynos are a vital tool for tuning but a poor tool for power comparisons, especially for runs made at different facilities and at different conditions.

I don't think anyone would buy a car just based on performance numbers or technological aspects alone. It's about how the car makes you feel, to open those garage doors and instantly get a huge grin on your face because you just love the car that is standing before you. Then if that car is a GTR or a TT, that's for everyone to decide for themselves.
Zlaatan lol You Bosnian?
