Fellow 6Speeder helps bring my 997 TT home!!
Greetings from <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comSeattle, WA! My 2008 TT arrived yesterday from Porsche of Arlington, VA on an enclosed trailer. I ordered it a few months back and wait nearly killed me! I would have liked to ordered it from our great local dealer, Barrier Porsche, but no spots were available and I just could not wait.
I ordered my car with the following options: PCCB, Sport Chrono, Sport Seat Backs Painted, Adaptive Sport Seats, Gear/Handbrake Lever Aluminum Look, Axel-Diff Lock, Sport Shifter, Rear Console Painted Exterior Color, Heated Seats, Thicker Wheel, Crests, and my favorite... Floor mats in Interior Color.
Total sticker was $145,160…the Sales Manager, David Harris, did throw in a clear bra, clear lenses, split the cost of the $2,300 transport bill, and a car cover (which he forgot to enclose). I tried to negotiate 7% off but to no avail. At least I got the car I wanted!
<OThis is my fourth Porsche and second Turbo. I sold my '03 X50 in June and really missed not having a fun car. I challenge any of you to name a more disturbing personal garage than the one I presently have....2005 Ford Escape, 2001 Ford Taurus...No doubt this fleet has you numb….feel free to start flaming now!
A HUGE thanks goes out to Jason (Atomic80 / 997 TT Cobalt) for helping me with the delivery. I was out of town in <ST1San Francisco on business and Jason took time out of his day to meet the truck at noon, inspect the vehicle, take photographs, in addition to making several movie clips which are awesome.
But it didn't stop there... I was not going to getting back to Seattle until very late so Jason went back to the dealer at 7 PM, picked the car up and ferried it back to his house where he parked it in his garage. I did not get up to his house until 11:15 PM and he waited up for me to give me the keys and paperwork! (no doubt his family was thrilled with this!)
And just for good measure, Jason burned me a disk with dozens of pictures and several movies. Many of you have seen his photography on this site so you know the quality of his work. The last photo in this thread is a side-by-side of my car with Jason’s…notice how much lower his car sits with his new coil-overs. Mine looks like an SUV by comparison! Jason said the driving difference is incredible between my stock unit and where he is now.
I don’t have any driving impressions in the first 26 miles the drive back was in a torrential downpour late in the evening. I did have two kids in a Honda Accord try to bait me into stepping on it but that’s the last thing I wanted to do on new tires in the rain!
At any rate it’s great to be back in the game! I am truly exited to have something other than the Escape and Taurus to drive and can’t wait for the good weather to get here. One thing I can say, it will be torture keeping it under 4,200 RPM’s for 2,000 miles! Let the driving, and massive depreciation curve begin! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all! - Brad

Brad,
It was my pleasure helping you out. Just being there when the truck driver unloaded your turbo reminded me of the time when I watched them unload mine more than a year ago! Break her in gingerly and reap in the endless boosted benefits!
BTW, Brad, your pictures aren't showing. Let me know which ones you chose and I'll post them.

congrats on the new car and kudos to Jason!!
PS - don't become a slave to that break in "hint". I don't think a car breaks in any differently in this country than the rest of the world The car won't implode if pushed a bit. Not saying you have to beat on it.
