RUF RT12-$500k
#31
Not worth it.
F430's are not as reliable as Porsches 911s to start with, let alone twin supercharged ones.
Imagine you decided build a Novitec F430 and to keep it, 20 years down the line, it'll probably just be sitting in your garage with no engine, because the twin supercharged engine blew up.
But a RUF... You'll probably still be driving in 20 years later.
That $500K is just not right, everything is the UK is double what we pay for in the states anyway, they pay $198K for our $90K SL550's. so... Consider the RUF being around $250K.
In conclusion, for that much performance, its a bargain. You guys should watch the RUF history on Youtube, it'll give you a whole 'nother appreciation for them.

I know what your getting at although Ferrari's are rather reliable as long as they're driven. Its when you let Ferrari's sit that they become a problem.

That isn't entirely true. I've seen twin turbo 355's that were street driven and on heavy track duty yet had no problem meanwhile putting down an efficient ~550rwhp.

Thats awesome to hear as I have always thought they were unreliable but now if only we could get them to not bottom out on price when you drive them and we'd be set...

Cant believe you can get one for $300k in the states!!
Its not fare
My 997tt cost me the exchange rate equivelent of $220,000 and its only a small ferry trip over here from Germany to deliver it. I would consider the extra $80k for a RUF if thats all it was here but its an extra $280 k plus for one here which is definitely not worth it.
How can they ship these cars to the states and sell them at almost half that cost?
Same question goes for the RUF? Its obviously the biggest market in the world for the car but why such a difference?

^ Those kids in the vids have ***** of steel.
There are not import duties here on foreign cars. Thats why.
I would hate to live in Europe or Japan or any of those countries as a car head, high gas prices, high taxes on foreign cars...
Since there is a RUF factory in Dallas now, they can build your car right here!

Ruf Auto Centre ( www.rufautocentre.com ) is not a factory.
They can sell you a new RT12 but it will not be built there. It will be built by Ruf HQ in Pfaffenhausen, Germany.
RAC does not build new Ruf VIN'ed cars. They can do a few conversions though. For example on the 996 Turbo, they can do the 460, 485, 520, and 550 conversions right there in Dallas but if you want the 590 or 650 conversion, you'll have to ship your car to Dallas where RAC will take the motor out and ship it to Pfaffenhausen and there they'll do either of those conversions w/ built internals and all. Then the motor will be shipped back to RAC and they'll proceed to put it in the car, do testing, and then get it back to you.
So RAC is a Ruf dealer capable of selling new Ruf VIN cars, servicing them, and also doing a few Ruf conversions but it's not a factory.

High taxes on foreign cars? No, for all cars you have to pay the same taxes (~20% in europe). High gas prices? Yes, but when you can buy a car for 100.000€ the gas prices should be your smallest problem. Look how much money you´re losing when you buy a new car in the fist year: Nearly 40 %.And for compensation of the high gas prices we have your autobahn

With the Euro at 1.46+ you'll be closer to $400K
