What options are must have and what could you live with out.
I'm more into the 70's p cars. The wife prefers the new 997. I'm going through building several cars on Porsche USA site. It seems to be a dizzying array of personal options.
If you can photo's would be excellent.

I got almost every option. the ones that I can absolutely live without:
multi function steering wheel - worthless option. besides volume control, every other function is a chore
adaptive sport seats - Im a big guy - 6'3" 235. these are for smaller people as I require them on the widest settings which makes the function worthless
must have:
sport chrono

Since it appears you live in the gracious living belt east of Rain City, you could contact Atomic80 or myself and we can show/demonstrate nearly all the available options. Plus we are loaded with opinions on what is a "gotta have" and what is a "don't bother, save your money" option. PM either one of us.

This would be a good start for you, Aaron. I need to update this thread. I've gotten pictures of quite a few more options since then.

Obviously a lot depends on personal taste and how you plan on using the car. Mine is setup as a daily driver that also sees track time. Don't know if this helps, but here's my setup (link has the pics)...

I wouldn't change a thing if I had to redo the order (might actually add a few more leather bits, like the CDZ - Gear shift trim in leather), but I've bolded the options that I highly recommend...
Regular options:
Adaptive sport seats (love these, comfort for daily driving, and adjustable support for hard driving of the track)
Rear axle diff lock (for the track)
Heated seats (Mmmm... toasty)
Rear window wiper (no cost option, might as well)
Park assist (I like it for city parking, but not for everyone)
Sport chrono pkg (to access over-boost feature)
GSM telephone module (kinda lame design, requires GSM card insertion, but like it for quick calls, 411, and checking v-mail)
6-disk CD changer (after-market iPod integration might be better option)
Exclusive options:
Thicker steering wheel rim (love the feel)
3-spoke multi-function steering wheel (like the quick vol control, but otherwise useless)
Center storage compartment lid w/ model logo (to match the leather rear center console)
Porsche crest in embossed in headrests (I like it, but not for everyone)
Gear Lever and hand brake w/ aluminum accents (love the gear **** feel)
Rear (center) console in leather (looks a little cheap in std plastic)
Foot rest in alum (to match the pedals)
Only real mod is the OEM XM unit (Cayenne part), integrates perfectly and I love it - for me is a must-have. I also added Porsche valve stems to the wheels, and the Porsche alum gas cap under the filler lid. Also swapped out the orange US side markers for the clear Euro-spec side markers.
The car has since had Clear Armor (3M protective film) and CG Locks (for the seat belts) added for track days.

The wive wants, rear window wiper, heated seats. She's a cpa and does not consider the rest to be worth it. I'm working on it though. I do think a larger steering wheel and ipod integration will be needed for her. Rear locking diff, and sport chrono for me. After that i need to figure out what i would like to have versus what i want to pay for.

Thanks that helps, Adaptive sports seats were not on the list. I will have to look at them again.

I would say for other options, sounds like you have the right ones prioritized... As for other options, I will just say this: don't let a few thousand $'s keep you from getting the exact car you want. If you can afford a TT, some of these "nice-but-not-ncessary" options shouldn't make much difference given all-in cost. Sneak in the options you want... in the end she will still love you. Keep us posted...

Hey, nice to see another eastsider here. I'm in Mercer Island.
Everyone has his own opinion obviously, especially with such a bewildering array of options. The most discretion is in choosing additional leather, carbon fiber, aluminum, and other trim stuff like deviating stitching. It's all about your tastes and how much you want to spend. It all adds very little to no value to the car....
Must haves for me include sport chrono, LSD with a 6 speed, heated seats, and short shifter. Thicker steering wheel (non multifunction) is inexpensive and you'll love it.
I have the adaptive sport seats and love them; I debated over spending the extra $ but very glad I did and would do again in a second, though if I were strict, I wouldn't call them a must have.
You'll hear various opinions about PCCB. Some will say must have, others are very happy without them.
In terms of additional leather, I think the storage compartment lid with logo, rear center console, door finishers and gear trim leather are very good bang for the buck. I also got the seat backs in leather, which are expensive.
I got the rear wiper and am very glad I did here this rainy winter in the PNW!
Picking out the options is a lot of fun and you'll get all the advice you want here on the 6.

eaglejackson - good call on the Sport Shifter option... I failed to add this initially on my order w/ the understanding that the 997 was already some % shorter throw vs my prior 996. But I later tried it on a friend's car, and then had to have my dealer add the Porsche OEM Short Shift Kit (the Sport Shifter). I absolutely love it - should have made this a "must-have" from the initial order.

It will be a while, I am in the planning stages. Trying to figure out what i want. I grew up with a 73 911s. I loved the car. That being said i really did not appreciate P-cars after it was sold. Stealth993, (mike s) let me drive his 993 c4s. Since then it has been at the back of my mind. I have looked at cayman s's and 997 c4s's . Truth be told, if i had my choice i would stick with the C4S. We are in the beginning phases of building a house. I will not really worry about finalizing the specifics of the car until the house is finished. I am pretty much a 1 task at a time guy.
