I'm not saying bang it off the rev limiter the fiurst thing in the morning, use common sense. After it is warmed up run it thru the gears at every opportunity.
Remember Porsche takes brand new cars straight to PDE and runs them hard. They don't seem to be worried about it. I asked one of the driver instructors at PDE about break in, he said "we're doing it now!" Nuff said.
Like Jason said, it's your car do as you want.
LOL.....I love it.

I did 500kms on my S!
thats all you need for the brakes..clutch...etc.

You cant go 200mph in a brand new car...the engine will be ok...but what about your brakes? the really needs a few miles!

Porsche runs all new engines on an engine dyno for about 10-15 minutes in Stuttgart. All engines produce 103-105% of rated power or they are disassembled. Porsche does not allow any photo or video on the factory premises.

I think that's what's going to happen...We'll have to line it up with your Z06, let me get my ECU and exhaust installed first.

Set the beast loose.

I don't know of any 997TT owner who has problems.

This car is bullet-proof.

I am amazed at this car's reliability. You are not going to find a way to hurt it.

Yes there is a problem with the 997TT....

2 997TTs a/c compressor exploded. At suncoast Porsche in Sarasota, FL. Still no answer on why/how it happened. The fuel line runs through the A/C system to cool before it enters the motor.

Last words told to me by the sales team at Porsche of Melbourne was "drive it and enjoy it"..... I am not a proponent of extended break in periods. I have always adhered to the "heat cycling" theory in which you drive it through three complete heat cycles, full hot to full cool, dump the oil and its ***** to the wall. Now that is not to imply that I ever abuse my cars. I have paid silly money for my offshore boat engines (572ci blower motors making 1000hp) and watched them go right from the engine stand to the dyno and get pounded. Never have I had a problem and I have gotten as much as 200 hours before valve job and 400 hours on the bottom end (extreme duty use also!). I am confident that this motor in the 997 will never see that kind of abuse. .....

Congrats on your new Porsche.

Did you buy from Horst?

The customer service there is excellent as you probably know.

Shay Rowe, Owner, will have a big Hospitality Tent set up at Daytona this weekend for the Rolex 24 Hour. A bunch of us are driving up for the event. There will be a special Porsche Corral for our cars.

Good luck with your new turbo.

bought at Porsche Orlando from Andreas, everything was great and I've been driving the car pretty hard so far with 300 miles on it as of now. Feels great!
