Yes, do what I did, get some oem 996 c4s muffler clamps(~30$), they are extremely heavy duty large grade 8 15mm bolt /case hardened german steel. The achille's heal of the vband clamps is the 1/4" bolt that's only rated at 10nm tq, I've discussed this at length with Jeremy, Joe and Jay, I believe they are working on a better clamp. GL
Not knocking FS in any way, it is a great system, in fact I've bought two! Just need a stronger clamp at that location imo.

I've had the tubi exhaust on my last two turbos. Love the build quality, but the tubi on my 07 turbo is more tame sounding than my X50 with a tubi. Just added the werks intake to the 07 turbo, and maybe the exhaust note is a little deeper, but sometimes your ears just want to hear a difference.

Hey Jason A, I've done a good few of these Tubis on 997TTs and I know a lot of this can sometimes be very subjective person to person but I still find that comment to be far from the normal. I always try to get people to listen to a system first (since they're going to need to live with it) and perhaps you didn't get the chance but maybe your expectations are a bit "out there". I can promise you no 996TT or 997TT will ever sound like an Ferrari with a Tubi simpley because you're dealing with completely different motors, a twin turbo Flat-6 vs a naturally aspirated V8 or 12. Most exhausts on the 997TT are going to be somewhat quiet and that's just because you have those VTGs muffling the sound if you will. Most people actually find the Tubi to be one of the best sounding ones (it's higher pitched than most of the others) to be honest. Try listening to a MillTek (super-quiet), Tech Art (deeper and a touch louder), Cargraphic (deeper), AWE (deeper), Fabspeed (deeper) and see what you think. Even with straight pipes these cars aren't super-loud. The 996TT didn't have the same turbos and were significantly louder with similair exhaust set ups. I'd try and talk to whoever you got the exhaust from and maybe arrange to listen to other set ups to compare? As I was saying the 997TT will never sound like an F-car.

Another tip is to maybe add headers, which will make it louder/deeper as well...Here's a clip from way back with a Tubi and headers:

Personally, I really like the tubi and there are pluses and minuses to all of the set ups out there. You need to consider what's right for you in terms out outside sound, weight (the tubi is the lightest), resonance, flow, fitment etc...

I bought a tubi, just waiting for my car to put it on. Got to drive a Turbo w/ one while I was trying to decide which one to buy, it was between the Cargraphic, Fabspeed, Awe & Milltek & loved the tubi when I heard it. On the car I drove it was no where near stock-sounding especially in the higher rpms. Also preferred the quality (imo) of the tubi being a fully welded system.

The Tubi is much louder than stock. At the beginning it wasn't, after about 1,200 miles it sounded much better. Sounds better at idle too.

Well I got a chance to blast around in a stock TT all day and I have to say I was 100% wrong. The tubi DOES have a diffrent sound and a MUCH BETTER sound at that. I realize my expectations were a little high considering I have driven more Lambos and Ferraris with Tubi Exhaust then the Tubi Factory themselves LOL. I deff do like the exhaust a hell of a lot more now after driving a stock car all day.

You are making the right choice keeping the Tubi, it's an awesome premium quality exhaust.

actually i just got two coupes so the cab is going out the door with the tubi on it. i am going to tubi my white coupe as like i said now that i have driven the stock car i like the tubi a lot. the black coupe i just got will be my personal car. im going to go huge on this one. all of our tt's have maxed out at 680hp i want to go even bigger. im not to sure if there has been a 997 to get 1000hp but im gona do some research and see how possible it is to obtain. the people that know me know ive been searching very hard for a black black coupe.
