997 TT production numbers

They cut it drastically for 08 in order to make the Turbo Cab the priority car from what I heard. If they change the motor over in 09 then you will have more true Porsche enthusiasts come back to 07/08.

Too late. Average 2007 TT drop nearly $30K in the first year...

Depends on the options. Higher the options, higher the first year wack. Got my certified car at a 17% discount with just 3K miles.
I don't think the depreciation will be as steep as the 996TT but it will average about 10-12% per year over the first three years of ownership.
Pay to play.

Those who don't want a depreciating asset should buy a 993TT in a good color combo with solid options. Take it, put in a garage in a hermetically sealed ziplock bag, close door, return in 15 years, sell at same price. If alternatively one plans on using the car then be prepared for depreciation. Can't see how this is possibly a news flash? Porsche makes a lot of cars and 997 production (in aggregate) got to the 100,000 marker faster than any 911.

Fawk depreciation..Porsche's are ment to be driven..If you care about depreciation that much, dont buy a new one.

My '08 copue stickered at $145,160 and I got zilch off MSRP from the dealer. Of course I got exactly the car I wanted but know I'll get creamed with depreciation. I just hope I can get $100k 2 years from now. (which I highly doubt) If you don't want to deal with depreciation, buy a Ferrari! Of course, be prepared not to actiually drive it because there are stiff reasle penalties for anything over 1,500 miles per year!

I know they are going with SMG and more power in 09, but is the motor going to be completely different?

My sense is that they are changing the mix to >50% cab versus 100% coupe last year....so coupes should be relatively rare in 08 vs 07. That said, drive it because the value is still going to drop like the proverbial brick.

A well kept car with options may retain some value, but not much. Ceramic brakes? May hold about ~10-15% value of the $8K+ spent. Carbon fiber interior, leather center console, probably no value retained. Sports chrono and LSD? Probably hold no value...but will be a deduction if your manual 997TT doesn't have 'em.
