Great time! The GT2 must have some serious suspension improvements to get the time that it did, considering that the RT12 has more horsepower and other RUF improvements.

Remember also that the Ruf is an AWD, without a proper race setup.
I think the goal was to show that a daily driver could also be a fast car on the track.

I thought the RT12 was RWD with AWD available as an option?

Indeed, the RT12 can be ordered as either RWD or AWD, but per a Rennteam member, most RUF customers order the AWD version, and, as stated here, the objective was to demo. the AWD daily driver version's capabilities.

I doubt the Ruf is more of a DD than a GT2.

i have not drivent the GT2... but the Ruf is a far better daily driver than my 100% stock GT3 and 996 Turbo.

The Ruf has softer, more compliant ride than both (I've got the Ohlins), a softer clutch than even the Turbo, and the hydraulic suspension allows it to traverse dips and inclines where even the Turbo would scrape its chin.

The only thing where the Turbo has the Ruf licked as a DD is the exhaust noise. The Ruf is obviously noisier than a stock Turbo.

Does this mean your RT12 is "softer" than the GT3's suspension? I was under the impression that the RT12's suspension with tuned a little tighter than the 997 TT.

While 7:35 is an impressive time, I would have certainly thought it would be quicker than the GT2, especially with the torque and HP advantage.

By far. The RT12 has a "cushier" ride than my stock 996TT with OEM suspension. The GT3 is definitely way harder.

I wouldn't know because I actually have never ridden a 997TT.

Having said all that, the Ohlins are adjustable and Ruf tuned the suspension for the crappy bumpy roads here in the Philippines, so maybe that's why its such a good DD...
