Thanks Eclou, dont know 300V is not listed. According with the numbers seems better. I´ll take the risk and play the guinea-pig role.

One of the Motul reps was a sponsor at this past track weekend. He told me that in Europe Porsche is going to switch from 0w oils altogether to the 5w oils, and that the rest of the world would follow thereafter

cephas is infamous around these parts
There are only 1 bar left, so I went to my OPC to see if I can buy some oil and get to know some people. But their service dept is closed.
I went to costco and there are only 5W30 Mobile 1 or 10W40 for 26 dollars for a box. The OPC said I can only use 0W40.....
what should I do?

How did you get to only 1 bar without noticing it beforehand? Try Autozone for the Mobil1 0W-40.

My manual says 0W-40, 5W-40, or 5W-50 are all approved for over -13F/-25C. 0W-40 is the ONLY recommended viscosity if operating BELOW -13F/-25C. (page 207 of 08 Turbo manual) Is there a list of approved brands? Unless my Porsche dealer has changed oils recently, they use Castrol. They have been doing my oil service since my first Porsche in 1980.

FYI, Ruf Automobile in Germany put Helix Ultra 10-60 in my 997 turbo at the time they modified it with the 550ps kit.

Interesting - I thought the lower viscosity was needed for Variocam.

I was reading last night, they use off the shelf 0W40 in the new DI RS Spyder motor.

Impresive engine! If that it is true there is no need of that higher grade on my engine ,I will stay with the same oil (5-40). Thanks
